Mr. Sykes might have offered a bit more courtesy--as you did--and warned his readers ahead of time about the dangers of non-swallowed liquids prior to reading the piece. I had to take my keyboard apart and wipe it down. That "cuppa tea" went everywhere.
Watching the R's try to make sense out of the midterms and blame everyone but themselves for the results is akin to watching hooked fish in the bottom of the boat.
Apparently as a woman, in spite of my college degree, I am gripped by depression, aimlessness, and a vengeful desire to make men, especially white Republican men with Dunning-Kruger Syndrome, miserable. Ruining their lives is my whole life, really, other than communing with my 27 cats...

I work with a skinny good ol' boy from Arkansas that wears a cowboy hat and a big belt buckle wherever he goes, and is the nicest man you could possibly meet. His best friend in the Navy was black, and he said that his buddy used to take him to social hangouts where he wasn't very comfortable, but it always interesting and educational. When he gets home from a hard day at work, he fires up the XBox to play video games with his adult daughter, and that's just the best thing in the world to him. One of our clients once asked me if I could give him her number within 30min of meeting the guy. She was too weak in the knees to do it herself.
He's an empathetic, compassionate, sweetheart of a guy, which is why he chose to stay here in California. ;)
The Republican party has been dead a while now. Just because the blood is still spurting out doesn't mean the political body can't do some serious damage before it is interred as a period of lunacy in American history (and there are many such periods).
