I agree - other than the praise for Reagan - "However Reagan, showed that strength on behalf of Americans, not against them." He did not show "strength" on behalf of POOR Americans. That always seems to be non-existent in Republican minds. Other than the typical Republican praise for Reagan - their "god" (!) I do agree with the rest of Kinzinger's post. Thanks Tom

yeah, that part made me gag a little. as long as anybody of any party who has any hope of getting elected is required to do the Reagan Genuflection, I will gag. but a little gagging never killed anyone. so yeah...this is good advice. I'm not sure it goes far enough, but, considering the source is a Republican (an out-of-favor-with-the-rest-of-them Republican, but a Republican nonetheless), I appreciate it.

in the meantime, TFF has obviously been decompensating pretty fucking radically. I'm wondering what kind of Big Pharma Cocktail is being devised to keep him from going off the rails during the "debates" to come (can you imagine what TFF would be like with a little tardive dyskinesia thrown into the mix?...I'd LOVE it...and those are just the kind of drugs he'd need). the inverted commas are, of course, to demonstrate that these have never been actual debates in any proper sense of the word, which might be a good thing (the proper "debate" being a deliberate exercise in Applied Sophistry). I'd just as soon get rid of them. there's no reason to make TV news any worse than it already is.

I had to look up tardive dyskinesia! Remember the reports about his constant sniffing a while back? Wonder why no one mentions that anymore? These days, a lot of attention has been paid to those lesions on the palm of his right hand. No doubt about it - a life of drugs and cholesterol and leisure (plus ranting all night instead of sleeping) seems to be catching up lately. I hope his bubble of protection blows in full public view and that's mean of me - but also honest of me!

My own theory is that the spots are an allergic reaction--hives, if you will--to his own speech on "unifying the country" after the Iowa "victory." Someone made him read it. His body couldn't stand it.

LOL!

I figured EVERYBODY who watches TV knows about tardive dyskinesia because now there's a whole new, much-advertised (especially, it feels like, on cable news...what are they trying to tell us?) new drug for it. that is to say, a whole new EXPENSIVE drug designed to treat a SIDE EFFECT.

the "constant sniffing" is to get the crushed pills he's just insufflated (the fancy word for "snorting") down his throat. he's very, very big on Adderall (which, I am told by those in a position to know, also fuels the world of Wall Street...is anyone surprised?).

Honesty is the best policy, although my honest thoughts would be banned.

Oh, so well spotted David.

"Tardive dyskinesia is characterized by repetitive, involuntary movements. Some examples of these types of involuntary movements include:

Grimacing

Tongue movements

Lip smacking

Lip puckering

Pursing of the lips

Excessive eye blinking

Rapid, involuntary movements of the limbs, torso, and fingers may also occur."

And..

"Tardive dyskinesia occurs in some people as a result of long-term use of dopamine-receptor-blocking medications such as antipsychotics and metoclopramide."

When we get to the guts of the matter..

"Metoclopramide is a medication used for stomach and esophageal problems. It is commonly used to treat and prevent nausea and vomiting, to help with emptying of the stomach in people with delayed stomach emptying, and to help with gastroesophageal reflux disease."

Can't help but wonder if someone has needed some pharmaceutical assistance passing all those cheesburgers.

I was actually FORECASTING tardive because of the neuroleptics it would take to keep him calm enough to get through a debate. but now that you mention it, he DOES exhibit some of those behaviors. I was referring to the slow jerking head and weird mouth movements you see in long-term users of antipsychotics.

actually, now that you mention it, I had a friend with uncontrollable vomiting who was given Compazine (also a neuroleptic, but a tummy thing) and IMMEDIATELY showed symptoms of t.d., so everyone's different.

but you can bet that TFF is on a LOT of drugs.

remember those thousand oxycodone tablets that went "missing" from the White House when that psychopathic drunk was "employed" there? I'm thinking they were lowballing...the word is that Melania likes them a LOT...hence, the sunglasses.

A marketing plan that makes sence. Leave no event or press conference or meet and greet without the three parts: What Biden does to keep strong and on top of game, his message and delivery on target and with only asides that take Trump down as embellishments, repeat the first emphasizing what his administration has achieved for the WE in the audience. Off camera, keep working on your inner-core. It prevents us from stumbling. "I am your steady hand watching your back and will do so as long as there is a breath in me. I am so to every American, whether you voted for me or not. With your support, WE can build an America for every American, regardless of party or demographic or origin."

This makes a lot of sense. The emphasis must be on President Biden showing strength for, not against, the American people. The Abominable Showman is a weak man, which he has shown over and over again in so many ways. There is a piece here that I think needs some consideration and that is faith. Biden lives it. Trump fakes it. And Trump's "fake religion" has pissed off a lot of traditionally faithful people. I'm not talking about religious fanatics or zealots, but just ordinary folks. Check out Faithful America.org and see how they are forming ecumenical coalitions to defeat Christian Nationalism. Two more groups that operate along similar lines are the Friends Committee on National Legislation and Mormon Women for Ethical Government (180 degrees opposite from Moms for Liberty). You don't have to go to church to have ethics so also check out what The American Humanist Association is up to. Happy Friday to you all.

Very good stuff!! He has got to project in public the opposite of the " sleepy Joe" mantra!!! I like the plane idea.( but why can't there be something other than steep stair exits? More than one President has tripped down those contraptions!! I understand it is a great photo-op but it is also a physical hazard. Try waving to the crowd and gracefully descending!)

I also think he should be seen travelling with the younger working people in his admin--( not just Kamala who, let's be honest, may not be a huge plus at this juncture)-- let's see the hard workers--the Blinkens and the Buttigiegs. It also helps to have Jill there visually!!

But, more than anything, find ways to help him move more deliberately, less tentatively, from spot to spot. He does it well when he moves along a line greeting folks. And never, never, never let him turn from a podium and look lost. Have other people around him who are there to cheerlead his message but who can seamlessly and gracefully step up, have him in a handshake and subtly steer him in a direction. It won`t look like someone helping an old guy!!!

Thanks for sharing this, TC. Have sent it along to others. Love Adam K!

this is completely unrelated to this topic (maybe I should wait for the appropriate post, which WILL come), but (lest I forget) I wanted to call everyone's attention to it because it's an enormously impressive account of the pretty insane balancing act that's been going on in Israel for at least 50 years before there actually WAS an Israel. it's also a celebration of the Israel that was promised by the best of its founders and despised by another faction. needless to say, that faction is the one in charge. like most Jewish things, it's very complicated and full of self-contradiction. and, like most Jewish things, it is (to borrow a phrase from Ford Madox Ford) "the saddest story I have ever heard." I pray there's no paywall. if there is, this story is worth paying for.

I would add this unsolicited advice: For heaven's sake, Joe, bring in the young with athletes and celebs so you can remind the young of what you have done and are trying to do for them. Tell them how you pray for them along with your own kids and grandkids and that prayer has helped your own family get through some tough times. Tell folks that unlike Trump, you're not taken in by a KGB trained Putin or an inheritor of NK cruelty in Kim, or the clever, sweeping, and aggressive machinations of Xi or any dictators who control their people with lies, force, and distractions because you know the history of these guys and things don't end well for ordinary citizens. Remind folks that a good fighter knows that to protect the country you have to keep your guard up and not be suckered into big trouble by idolizing dictators whose people fear them. Tell them who your heroes are, Joe., the workaday people who are the glue that holds the nation together and that you have faith that they can and will all 'come home' to once again be the United States because that, and that alone is what makes America great, people pulling together to solve problems and to make a better future. Acknowledge that you've had a lifelong stuttering problem just like James Earl Jones, Tiger Woods, and Churchill (an older guy who shepherded Britain through WWII, for god's sake, but that doesn't signal any slippage, only passionate regard for what you have to say. It also makes it harder to lie. Tell them that unlike your presumed opponent, instead of banging away on social media, you workout everyday so you can be in shape to get the job done because you know you owe it to the people. Say you read the intel reports every day rather than waving them away in favor of watching what was said about you on TV each morning. Tell them you're asking for their votes, not their pity because you don't plan to lose.

And if Taylor Swift wants to show up, that's okay, right?

Telling people that their own worst impulses and thoughts are A-OK is always a crowd pleaser, and the leader who tells people that his strength will make those impulses the law of the land has them in thrall.

This is one time when we WANT to "poke the bear" because our narcissistic bear is incredibly sensitive to any perceived insult to his fantasy perfect life..... If we keep accentuating his failures and his incompetence, he will react with rage and uncontrolled efforts for revenge - at some point he will go so completely over the top that most independents (the people who will determine the winner in November) will say "not on my watch".....

Joe Biden is actually a good Christian so he’s not going to behave like the putrid manbaby naturally. He will need some coaching! I have seen him be critical of tfg, but not long or loud enough to make the news. The other Dems need to help. And YES! Don’t over explain.

And, if tfg does show up for a debate, Joe needs to prepare some good lines, especially if tfg tries to follow him around the stage.

Aside from the physical and mental strength which Adam notes here, he is also calling attention to staging those public events as "shows" - which The Loser is really good at doing. In fact, it's pretty much ALL show and no go with those rallies - lots of noise, lots of music, lots of cheering, lots of drama, lots of colorful props. His shows are similar to sporting events - a football game, a basketball tournament- or gigantic rock festivals. If this is what the public likes, why should only a charlatan have all the fun and games? Why not get out from that podium or that ice cream shop and put on an EVENT? Bring in some stars, some major performers, some musical groups, sell a little merch and souvenirs? Why not? Joe could still press the flesh, but with a little more oomph and noise! AND he could probably run up the steps and make a grand entrance to the stage, unlike his fat and flabby opponent.

Trump is crazy; Kinzinger got that right. And America has a large population of really delusional Trump followers who insanely vote against their own interests as Americans in support of the bunko vision espoused by the Golden Golem of Greatness, as James Howard Kunstler called the fascist buffoon. But America also has another (larger) population of sensible, relatively sane citizens who eschew everything Trump and the terrorist GOP stands for. Polls show that we are the majority, but along the way, seduced by the lures of capitalist acquisitiveness, we lost our vigilance and that's what brought us to the situation we're now in. Somehow, with or without Biden, we've got to draw the line in the dirt, rise up in unity and crush the fascist Republican threat to liberal democracy along with the blustering idiot leading the assault on our Constitutional liberties and the rule of law. Make no mistake. This is it, as TC pointed out in a rousing, previous post, our St. Crispin Day moment. May the Force be with us!
