We cat people are living with a combo of genius robots and unconditional love rolled up in the cutest furry balls. A mysterious creature with a range of skills and personalities that rival those of any creatures, including their human “masters.” Some connect, some reject, and we are lucky if we cross paths with our “heart” cat(s).
My Mom had a cat, a red point siamese named Topaz, who was SO clever. She used to sleep on top of a small TV Mom kept in her bedroom and watched before bed. Mom would turn it off with a remote and go to sleep. About 10 minutes later the TV turned on by itself. After watching a bit, Mom figured it out. Once the TV began to cool, Topaz would stretch, yawn, then reach down to press a button on the cable box. Success!! The TV was warming up already. :-)
She also curled up on top of the old cathode ray computer monitor, and chase the path of the mouse indicator on the screen!
Cats are much smarter than many people. One of my cats likes to drink from the bathroom sink faucet. It had a drip that I fixed because the dripping sound drove me nuts and I didn’t want to waste water. I felt bad for my cat that enjoyed lapping it up. But I didn’t need to. He figured out how to turn on the faucet and get a good drink.
Someone once said cats spend their entire lives trying to figure out ways to kill us. I suppose they don't because of the sweet sound of the can opener.
I miss the two ferals, Big Red and Udo, that used to prowl the neighborhood because they rid the place of the loud chorus of chittering squirrels and garden mice. The coyotes have been seen on security cameras, so I'm hoping the ferals moved across town or are living in the trees in the park. The other possibility is too heartbreaking even though I think Udo could leave a coyote on the canvas.
Yes, Sebastian will never see that video either. Interesting that we are all talking about orange cats (and that the star of this is also an orange and white, like Seb). Orange cats seem to be the intellectual whiz kidz of feline world.
Those jointed toesies and curved claws are damned near as effective as opposable thumbs. 😉 What I found remarkable about this particular kitty was the way he (making an assumption here) scouted out the terrain before drawing his conclusions about the best means of escape. Those who denigrate cats’ intelligence have obviously never lived with one.

I did NOT show this to my orange boy.

My boy is NOT intellectual, he lives in the moment. He is, however, very smart, resourceful, and cunning.
They all do that and are that.
Wise move on your part, Ally. 😉👍🏻
Wise of you!

I have 2 great dogs and one kitty— he rules.

Hahahahahahahahaha. Better maneuver than any military. Oh, what we can learn about strategy from a feline.
🗽💜
That's freakin' amazing!
Holy shit! 😧
So that’s what they do when we aren’t home 🤣
My son sent me this one a while ago - that cat is a problem solver!
Any chance he’ll run for House Speaker? He’s way smarter than the current GOP crowd.
❤️😂❤️
Amazing!
Our last orange kitty, Pico, could open doors with lever handles and a few other tricks, but that kitty is on another plane.
😎
WOW!!!
