In other words - the lemmings are following their leader once more! Too bad there isnt an actual cliff for them to roll over.

Speaking of Republicans. . .”Speaker”Johnson met with Zelenskyy today. Speaking out of both sides of his mouth, Johnson said he supports Ukraine, but apparently only with thoughts and prayers. He said Ukraine does not have a strategy to win and the American penny-wise, pound-foolish people want to know why not, and when will the war end. No strategy to win? Might that be a secret, maybe, not to be shared with a party who invite Orban to give them advice on helping Putin to prevail?

Perhaps people got used to the former guy telling them he could just snap his fingers and “make things happen.” Or they watch too many movies about wars that already happened, which is why the outcome is known and the strategy is clear. Or they feel they are entitled to criticize Ukraine because they think they paid for a quick victory, when all they got was a boring stalemate.

Mikey asked for two things he knew Ukraine could not give: their "strategy" for winning and "oversignt" by the U.S. Say what? He expects Ukraine to reveal its military strategy to HIM and to a House of traitors, much less to any other country AND he expects Ukraine to allow the U.S. to monitor its war of survival? Of course not. He deliberately used his wishy washy "skills" as a lawyer to provide cover for following orders from Mar a Lago and, by extension, Russia.

Mikey was for Ukraine aid before he was against it. Flip flop? I would like to know just how his mind was changed.

Yes, very wishy-washy. But his voice is so nice, he could be an emcee on game shows, someday.

Could the payoff possibly be cushy think-tank positions after his 'tour' as Speaker? Or is it the threat of what might happen on a dark night if he does not toe the line.

I'm with you Tom. I spend part of each day railing at npr! Eventually though I get smart and write in my journal instead or prepare for antiracism training. It is interesting to listen to Liz Cheney talk about her book and the state of the gop. Colbert had a pretty good interview last night. The gop folks, Cheney included, refuse to connect the dots from their rabid past to what is going on now. The orange cheeto is, as Colbert indicated, an avatar for where the party has come from. She doesn't agree. Oh well, she wouldn't. How could she? Her entire family is implicated in today's fascist gop. She'd have to take responsibility.

Loved how Colbert pushed back on her Trump as an” aberration” theory. She can “connect the dots”. Although she can’t…because she’s smart enough to realize those dots all circle back.

Speaking of obits, the one I'd most love to read is that of TFG. It would feel like a HUGE weight off of our backs. I'd like him to have a month in prison, but I don't want to wait even a year for him to kick the bucket.

After that, Mike JOhnson and JD Vance. I particularly loathe Vance because he's such a traitor to the image of himself in his book.

from the very beginning, though, I had this feeling that Vance wasn't playing for real. maybe it was his barely hidden sense of entitlement; his conviction that he DESERVED what he got.

if he hadn't made that movie deal, we wouldn't be talking about him, would we?

I didn't know about the movie deal. But I'd heard a moderate amount about the book. So as far as I'm concerned we're talking about him without the movie deal. But the world works differently around me.

Gov't of Putin is what the GOP and its base have devolved down to.

I got 4 "emergency" text msgs from Dem candidates,

with family photos no less,

this afternoon that Johnson

was bringing an "Impeachment" vote, not an

Inquiry, to the House floor tonight. There were, of course, links where I could donate $ to stop this. I blocked them all. And it's

only Tuesday and not even

2024 yet.

You have to impeach for high

crimes and misdemeanors while in office. There's ZERO

evidence Joe Biden has blown his nose in public, let

alone committed any crimes.

Go ahead and throw something. A leftover pumpkin would do nicely. A big wind-up and let it rip. Then listen if anything popped in you shoulder or arm, probably shoulder. Then ice the elbow. Just don't hit a cat, as they will all be just sitting there watching and amused, then they will go and sniff the pumpkin and leave you alone in pain. And you will all feel better for it.

What the GOP is doing is histrionically waving and jerking a dead rattler in the air to make it appear they are somehow overpowering the rattler, something they can do almost endlessly until the rattler starts to stink and the easily awed maga gapers have all moved on to the next great conspiracy theory.

Go ahead and throw things Tom, at least metaphorically in the form of these fired-up little essays you write. Eventually the salubrious influence these gems have on the population of our beleaguered republic might succeed in getting the MAGA morons thrown out of the offices they now disgrace with their traitorous presences. It's ironic that a group of so-called legislators who are willing to pursue an impeachment inquiry against Biden without any credible evidence are eagerly providing lots of evidence of treason for the inquiry yet to come sponsored by We, the American people, into the seditious actions on the part of known GOP insurgents now smugly betraying the oaths they swore to uphold the Constitution. Is there a man or woman of integrity and honor among these miscreants. I believe the "evidence" now mounting in this dark hour will show that there is not. They are fascist scum all and there is a plethora of proof to substantiate such a contention.
