There has been a wave of articles all day today, quoting remarks from Republicans, - both in the House and Senate -publicly acknowledging that the House Republicans’ vote tomorrow for formal authorization of an impeachment inquiry into President Biden is nothing more than a political stunt.
Sen. Mittens Rmoney said “There’s been no evidence provided to the public yet or certainly to me” to justify an impeachment inquiry.
Alleged “moderate” Representative Don Bacon of Nebraska, who always sounds reasonable just before he votes for every right wing collection of bullshit that comes long told reporters “probably not” when asked whether President Biden had committed high crimes and misdemeanors.
Republican Main Street Caucus chair - another alleged “moderate” who always votes the wingnut line - Dusty Johnson from The Empty Quarter, er, I mean south Dakota, said “there’s not evidence to impeach” and “we have had enough political impeachments in this country.”
Representative Dan Newhouse - one of two republicans who voted to impeach El Jefe Del Mar A Lardo still in office - told reporters, “I don’t think that’s a foregone conclusion.” He went on to emphasize that “opening an impeachment inquiry doesn’t mean the House will actually impeach.”
Representative Ken Buck, who has spoken out against impeachment from the start, made similar remarks: “I’m struggling now, I have to tell you. On one hand I have come out strongly and said there is no direct evidence linking President Biden to the activities of Hunter Biden...” But then he explained how he may feel compelled to support an inquiry vote if it helps enforce House Republican subpoenas.
Other House Republicans who have spoken out about the lack of evidence have taken a similar tone - they acknowledge they haven’t seen any evidence to justify an impeachment inquiry, but they’re still going to authorize it on the House floor.
Newhouse said he would support the impeachment inquiry as a “necessary step” and viewed it as a “kind of a formality” to give investigators the strongest tools to conduct the probe. But he insisted that opening an inquiry does not mean the House will eventually vote to impeach Biden.
The White House put it right: “House Republicans have been at this for a year and have turned up zero evidence of wrongdoing, because there isn’t any evidence of wrongdoing. Yet they still want to keep their fishing expedition going in order to satisfy their far-right base. They know they don’t have proof against the President, but they’re plowing ahead anyways – showing yet again that this stunt is all politics, no evidence.”
As usual, the feckless collection of alleged “moderate” House Republicans continue to demonstrated that there is no such thing as a “moderate” Republican in office. They all have backbones made of a single strand of overcooked angel hair pasta and live in terror that Fatso Fatass will call them bad names if they do anything that even slightly resembles actually doing the job they were elected to do - represent the interests of the people in maintaining a constitutional democratic republic.
They are all halfassed bullshit artists who no longer even try to act otherwise. I would get them in trouble with the inbred droolers of the Republical Al Qaeda (“the base”) they have to entertain properly in order to maintain their exalted status as tribunes of the people.
Mark Twain got it right 150 years ago, when he wrote: “Consider a congressman, then consider an idiot. Bah! I repeat myself.”
Fuck. Them. All.
Clarence Darrow one said “I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great relish.” There will be great relish indeed reading the obituaries of these worthless scum.
How I manage not to throw things these days constantly amazes me.

In other words - the lemmings are following their leader once more! Too bad there isnt an actual cliff for them to roll over.
Speaking of Republicans. . .”Speaker”Johnson met with Zelenskyy today. Speaking out of both sides of his mouth, Johnson said he supports Ukraine, but apparently only with thoughts and prayers. He said Ukraine does not have a strategy to win and the American penny-wise, pound-foolish people want to know why not, and when will the war end. No strategy to win? Might that be a secret, maybe, not to be shared with a party who invite Orban to give them advice on helping Putin to prevail?
Perhaps people got used to the former guy telling them he could just snap his fingers and “make things happen.” Or they watch too many movies about wars that already happened, which is why the outcome is known and the strategy is clear. Or they feel they are entitled to criticize Ukraine because they think they paid for a quick victory, when all they got was a boring stalemate.
