It looks like Seventh Century Camel Fornicator Mohammed bin Salman blew up the U.S.-Saudi alliance yesterday. Hurrah! Ro Khanna made the suggestion that we should send a message to the Saudis that they change their oil quota decision or face a cut in the military spare parts their US-manufactured armed forces require to function.
Lay down with camel fornicators; rise up with sand fleas. The Saudis have NEVER been friends of the US--except as a counter to Iran. Serve them up to the Iranians.
And never forget: George W’s first concern on Sept 11th was to fly Bin Laden relatives out to safety.
"...The US should act accordingly and ask, “What, Saudi Arabia, have you done for us lately?”
Perfect, TC. We do not need them. And...we should be isolating the Saudis with a clear declaration that they are enemies of democracy and human rights. Their nation is built on an antique, ancient and feudal system that treats women (and any people who have opinions) as enemies. Fuck 'em.
And then... we challenge "our oil companies" to decide whether they are purely price driven or actually interested in helping their own countrymen (women). The answer is clear, let us simply state it!
There is so much for Democrats to work with here. But we let it bubble below the surface. Our own companies are our own enemies.
I wish this came as a surprise, but having followed the dismal history of Big Oil it does not. Hopefully the President will follow through on his statements to OPEC+ and the major oil companies and we'll see some change.
BYE BYE MBS is a sharp account of the US-Saudi relationship from the end of WWI to the present, It is most strongly a weapon for survival, distilling the reasons Saudi Arabia and Russia (through OPEC) will slash oil production by 2 million barrels per day.
The noose of greed and wanton power of deformed human beings with nothing but moral emptiness are choking us to death if we let them. Don't we feel the lynching of life, of us and of the planet? How could we not feel the fire, the loss of air, the parched earth, the flooding and the horror?
'Yesterday was the tipping point' wrote TC. Do we confront these killers or not?
thanks for this TC. As always to the point. Yes, we need to stop dancing with the Saudi's. And deferring to the big oil producers. Brazen manipulation of oil prices. Pricing today's gasoline to the fluctuating daily price of oil is manipulation. We need more refineries---not enough and not in the right places. The reason we need pipelines to texas is to get oil to the coast to ship it (or refined products) overseas---not for the USA market......
Once, when summing up how voters will choose their elected officials it was "It's the economy, stupid" and now its "It's the price of a gallon of gas, stupid." Starting to see that everything said before "stupid" is irrelevant to American participation in representative governance and what elected representatives actually do or can control. I predict that the next will be "It's the price of my Fruit Loops, stupid" or "It's the price of my beer, stupid." Seems that I am getting a little titched.

Excellent summary and resolution TC!
Let's flood White House email and every
representative with this resolve. Time to
cut the cord with Saudis.
This is I know a really serious and dismal topic. However for light relief I suggest we make this genius video from Adam McKay go
viral.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hj5xaG0tC-Y

Thanks for an excellent summation. I am learning so much and I am ready for the next bullshit remark from some asshole about Biden and gas prices.

Close your eyes and imagine what could have been if Gore had become President.
MBS needs a last date with a reciprocating saw!

I always appreciate your historical analysis on things.
Hey TC, could Biden do anything under the Defense Production Act? Also, what are the pros/cons of nationalizing Big Oil, aside from being illegal? /s
Thank you for this brief history of our relationship with Saudi Arabia. It has really opened up my eyes and mind.
