YES, pull the alarm. YES, demonize the Republican brand and every last one of them.
What about Manchin and Sinema?
What about turning Texas blue/purple? It would mean everything regarding Electoral College What are our chances -- slim to none? How about joining Beto's campaign?
'A new statewide poll shows how Texans are almost evenly split on their decision for Texas governor. Beto O'Rourke sits only two points behind Gov. Greg Abbott at 40% to 42% respectively in the latest poll.'
'The Texas Lyceum Poll released its findings on Friday, April 1 after asking 926 registered voters whom they would support if the gubernatorial election were held at this moment. While it's an almost even split, 18% said they would be supporting someone else, hadn't thought enough about it, or didn't know.' (mysanantonio) See link below.
I suggest that we let Nancy Pelosi know via a letters, postcards, emails CAMPAIGN, shouting WE MUST PULL THE ALARM and BRAND the REPUBLICAN PARTY for what it is.
TC's pretend scenario played to our base, particularly, when he suggested what was going to happen to Clarence Thomas.
Trump isn't the leader of the Republican Party, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is, and Trump is Putin's Press Secretary.
For those of you that didn't get TC reference to 'Friend of Jane' The Jane Collective or Jane, officially known as the Abortion Counseling Service of Women's Liberation, was an underground service in Chicago, Illinois affiliated with the Chicago Women's Liberation Union that operated from 1969 to 1973, a time when abortion was illegal in most of the United States. The foundation of the organization was laid when Heather Booth helped her friend's sister obtain a safe abortion in 1965. (Wikipedia) See link below.
Right now, as much as it makes you, me, and every Democrat in the Senate grit our teeth, Manchin and Sinema are "can't live with 'em, can't kill 'em." Until the elections in 2024, the D after their names are why Mitch McConnell didn't get to block the nomination of KBJ to the court. And other things.
Couldn't agree more; here just sit and watch, while Americans are voting about the future of democracy in the world. Seems, because of Finland, we can't even wait and see what Nato is like after 2024! First time to be happy that Volvo is not Swedish any more, but Chinese.
I get it! Trying to be socialist, as all "students -68", I could be scorned for being liberal and reply: I'm not liberal, I'm feudal! as I know my ancestors. And I guess my taste buds were never really supposed to develop further than 'alcohol' and 'cheese'.
Oh boy, you hit the nail on the head..... I marvel that supposedly gifted "political leaders" are drifting toward a possible house-cleaning and loss of the Senate and they do not seem to understand the need for serious action. I suspect it is the arrogance of the "professional" left, so sure they are obviously better than the other side, and their policies and platform planks so much better than the Republicans' side, that the voters can't help but vote to keep them in office..... It amounts to assisted political suicide, and I for one am pissed to the nines..... Dammit, we need the 4th Armored Division and we're getting the ladies' auxiliary of the local Hydrangea Society.....
Bruce, Who were you referring to when you wrote, 'I suspect it is the arrogance of the "professional" left, so sure they are obviously better than the other side, and their policies and platform planks so much better than the Republicans' …?
TC wrote, 'Democrats could make this war on women’s rights a mobilizing issue for the midterm elections, but instead they’re spending their time debating how best to focus on “kitchen table issues” and politely ask Republicans not to hit them too hard. Nancy Pelosi is pushing this strategy hard and opposing those who are willing to go find the fire alarm and pull it.'
Do you think that Nancy Pelosi is part of the arrogant 'professional left' or were you thinking of others? Clearly, I am trying to understand who you are referring to.
My feeling is that the current Democratic leadership simply does not realize how critical and how outdated their view of US politics is. No matter how skilled you are in negotiating legislation through Congress, if you do not win elections you do not get to play at the table. Pelosi and Schumer may be whizzes at parliamentary procedure, but they do not give any indication they realize we are in a fight literally to the death (of the American experiment)..... When McConnell admits he will not allow any future Democrat to put a new justice on the Supreme Court, and there is little reaction except "that's politics these days", I have to wonder. We need firebrands these days, not wet matches. If the current Dem leadership is unwilling or afraid to go toe-to-toe with McConnell and the Repubs, then let the younger and more vigorous up and comers have at it. If the Dems do not convince the public of what they have done for the people and what the Repubs plan to do to the people, we are done.
Bruce, We are in complete agreement. I am glad that you laid out your position. When reading, 'I suspect it is the arrogance of the "professional" left, so sure they are obviously better than the other side, and their policies and platform planks so much better than the Republicans …' I wondered who the hell is he referring to? Next time, might you name the accused?
Regrettably, there seem to be a host of moderate and center-left Dems who act as thought they do not recognize that the game has changed - I would have to include Smokin' Joe Biden in that group, wonderful people who will be steamrollered by Mitch McConnell and his evil minions. There's a reason the Ten Commandments are not called the Ten Suggestions. For the moment, the Democrats have to learn and absorb that the current Republican Party and most of its members are the implacable enemies of democracy. Drink a toast to better times, and then go get 'em.....
'Tney' don't know how to fight this war. Pelosi is holding back the 'firebrands'. I prefer calling CHAIR PRAMILA JAYAPAL and DEPUTY CHAIR, KATIE PORTER of the Progressive Caucus in the House 'leaders' whose time has come. May they overcome Pelosi and take us into battle instead of out to tea.
Ah, TC … there you go, speaking my mind. Except you’re more optimistic than I am. You write like we can make a difference. I try. I do. I don’t feel I’m making headway. I think the Presidential powerful pen is needed to curb states rights. ESPECIALLY where it pertains to voting… then, we may have a chance.

Olof, Have you stayed away from 'Chardonnay-swilling' and 'Brie-chomping', too?
Yes; or anyway I am not aware of having done anything of the kind!
I completely understand, Olof. Awareness requires consciousness -- it's tricky.
Especially tricky when you, at the same time, have to try and figure out what the meaning of 'Chardonnay-swilling' and 'Brie-chomping' is.
Chardonnay and Brie are alcohol and cheese items associated with upper class liberals here.

So folks, how do we elevate TC to the national level where his voice - that speaks for most of us - could be heard before it's too late.
Keep pushing it on other places. All the posts are OK to share.
I do and will do!

I'm cheerfully prepared to be proven absolutely wrong on this.....:-)
