trump’s mentor was Roy Cohn, who taught trump well in using the legal system to wear down his creditors and adversaries in unending court battles to delay the comeuppance he so richly deserved. A little bluster and bravado thrown into the mix added to the armor, but in the end Cohn ended up disbarred, nearly broke from paying out all his legal fees, and dying from AIDS, abandoned by his “friends”, including his prize protege, trump. The only thing is that he never spent a day in jail, so I guess for him, it was worth it. Does the same fate await trump? Who knows…I don’t believe in a Hell in the afterlife, but maybe trump is finally getting a taste of it now, in this life?

He needs to die.

And after what was on view in the House today, there are several others who need to join him.

Oh, he will eventually. Hopefully behind bars.

I get in trouble for stating that, but I think it's true.

Trump is certainly sounding deranged.

Great post, especially the ending!

Part of me would like to see him suffer in prison for a few years, unable to get his rants out to his followers. But I'm now thinking that his existence and his pronouncements are a pernicious influence on our people and our country, and that we would be better off with him dead, sooner than later. And at the same time, I would like to see him convicted under at least one of the indictments, in order to set an example that presidents are not immune from prosecution and conviction.

After what the Fweedumbassers did in congress today, I am worried about us keeping things together for the next 13 months. I'm seriously at the point I think these people need to be arrested for treason and removed.

They have the megaphone and will create as much chaos as they can. And that is chump’s forte. Are there no laws for congresspeople?

I hope this process is a TORTURE for Mr Mobster. I hope he finally feels the ass-kicking he deserves. Let fly the ketchup bottle!

It sounds like he's feeling it. Hopefully that will kill him, and soon.

And before the rest of us. Would that let the air out of the congressional toadies.

I’m a jew who asked my mother, naively, 70 years ago, “Why didn’t all the Jews leave Germany?”

Trump may go to prison or die of fright, but that won’t put the genie of hysterical hate back in the bottle. Trump is a con trying to stay out of prison. His commitment to fascism is as strong and deep as the Wizard of Oz’s to Oz. The powerful backers who have substituted the name Soros for Jew are committed to their project. My family is trying to figure out where we might be able to resettle in this world headed for a dark, dangerous, and overheating future. We will not be frogs in a pot of warming water.

I’ve got the answer to my question of years ago. “How did such happen in a country of smart, religious people?”

Living in his “incredible reality-distortion vortex” is such a mind warp. It’s hard to fathom that so many willfully sign on to the cult. But the tea party cretins just reinvented themselves and hopped on board, making their brand of Nazism (in all its facets) palpable to millions with an iota of grievance.

The paragraph by Juliette Kayyem gets to the legacy of the power-hungry republicans embracing the most evil cretin to come our way since Hitler.

I hope Mitch lives long enough to wallow in the results of his deal with the devil, may we live long enough to survive it.

The " reality distortion vortex" extends far beyond this truly dangerous man. In that vortex, his demise, should it happen soon, will fuel his morphing into martyrdom. The emperor will be dead but the empire will go on. That said, he needs to be legally removed from the public space to reduce the stochastic terrorism he spews. We have got to create more safe spaces for comprehensible thinking and behavior. Hopefully our legal system will work to stop his trajectory. But we will have to work very hard as a society to grapple with the greater reality distortion!

Trump has always been dangerous because he's known how to marshal the forces at hand, how to grease the skids, and how to seduce the needy and shallow (of which there are apparently legions). I don't think he will crack under his many pressures; he will have to be cracked with a silencing from a judge who is serious about equal application of the law. If not, those of us who want our democratic institutions to survive will become just as disillusioned as those who had disillusionment pumped into their empty brains by Trump's toxic hot air. House arrest with no electronics. He'll chew his own leg off.

Looking in my crystal ball 😁, I see Trump becoming more

unhinged, making some not

1st amendment protected threats, on his overtly and

covertly monitored Lies Social, oops Truth,🙄 broadcasting system. Which,

BTW, may not operate after

sometime in October I think

it is. October's going to be a tough month for Trump.

October is an auspicious month. It's ruled by Libra ♎.

You are absolutely right. Trump is a maniacal stochastic killer. He needs to be locked up somewhere with his means of communication removed or strictly controlled, or he need to go discuss life with his maker.

Toodles, Twumpy.

One of my thoughts today (actually for too many days) is that little t’s band of devotees are mostly mentally ill & undiagnosed. Certainly the republicans with their big open mouths and very clearly shrunken brains elected to congress to represent them are obviously off the charts with a prisma color of mentally illnesses from borderline to histrionic, narcissistic and grandiose. More varieties of course.

We all know this about little t. Many people excuse mental illnesses within families and generations of odd behaviors calling them ‘eccentric’. ‘If we can’t handle it, we don’t want to know’..... Denial!

Look what that begets.

A cornered rat is dangerous, yes. Particularly if it's a rabid one. But it's still cornered, and less dangerous than if it's allowed to escape and run free.

We as voters along with the justice system will now either finish Trump off by *whatever* legal means necessary, *whatever* the price to be paid, or he'll finish off this righteous experiment in democracy and self-governance called America if he's allowed back into power.

Whatever legal means necessary, whatever the price to be paid.

It's just that fucking simple. And don't let anyone tell you it isn't.

Not only is djt deranged, and losing it more and more every day - he's never been able to open his mouth without lying or insulting someone - but the crowd on the stage last night proved that he may still be the kingpin but the rest of these folks are pinheads! I can't listen to these "debates" because 1) they make me physically sick, and 2) they are worthless. I agree with the folks working to make democracy more of a democracy when they say that we would all be served if there were NO PRIMARIES at all. Instead a way of open voting for possible candidates who would be ranked. Right now all we have with the gop is rank candidates as in smelly. I read the most fabulous opinion piece in The Guardian today - here is a link which I hope you can copy/paste to read - or just go to their site - they do no have a paywall so you're likely able to access it: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/sep/28/this-pointless-republican-debate-left-us-all-feeling-a-little-bit-dumber

If you missed PBS last night there was one decent segment:

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/political-theorist-promotes-our-common-purpose-plan-to-reinvent-american-democracy

In the meantime, I wonder--- if the congress had to forego their pay/benefits/etc with a shutdown if there would be a shutdown. Poor Quiveren Queven. It's a terrible thing to waste the speakership on such a feckless coward while realizing that this guy is third in line to the presidency! Good grief!
