like most atheists, I'm EXTREMELY superstitious.

so I deliberately stayed away from watching any returns, choosing to re-watch the Louis Armstrong documentary on Apple with my buddy.

he split at eleven, at which time I turned on the returns, and the news was good. certainly not remotely the predicted "bloodbath."

so you've been pretty much right about this for these last few weeks. the polls were pretty much bullshit. I'm pretty much very pleased....right now, Fetterman is making his victory speech. Dr. Oz now has lots of time to pick up some tips from his daughter on improving his crudite. I wish my keyboard had an acute accent.

needless to say, I think this PROVES that if I stay away from watching the returns, things will go a lot better than if I watch compulsively.

that was a joke. sort of.

I hope we keep the House. but hey...it's sleepytime for Boebert. and the telegenic-but-worthless Ms. Lake has failed to pass muster.

what the fuck do these so-called "Libertarians" think they're proving?

that was a rhetorical question.

now, if I stop worrying about Georgia, who knows what'll happen?

that was another joke. sort of.

It's 2 am here in Pennsylvania, and I woke up to the delightful news that John Fetterman has won. Close (expected), but he won! Our governor 's race was easily won by the Democratic candidate. Woohoo! No red wave happening here!!

'So, there. I’ve gone on a limb' (TC) And that limb became more secure hours after TC's call, in the early morning between 1 and 2 AM.. What we knew when TC braved a prediction was that the Republicans had not succeeded in taking their wrecking ball to the Democrats and our fragile Democracy. I would like to go out on a limb as well with the thought that WE the PEOPLE are stronger now. The Republican party is divided and it is time the cleave the traitors in our midst from the body of the state.

What of the dozens of candidates for House, Senate and state-level office who are election deniers that won their races? They are among our biggest worries.

I'm almost delirious with happiness...our first female Governor, Janet Mills (Dem), won out what looked like a tight race over the horrible LePage and it looks as though our two Reps will remain Dem. The equally horrible--but for different reasons--Susan Collins remains the only Republican we will be sending to Washington, D.C.. Hallelujah!

I'm also very cheered to see Fetterman win over the dreadful Oz and that Boebert and Lake appear to be losers as well...

Many thanks to TC and Mr. Hubbell, Michael Moore and countless others (Sweep, Politics Girl come first to mind but there are many others) for the continuous cheer of so many columns of moral support and encouragement and the offering of helpful links where we can put our worries to good use by working towards a common goal. So let's keep this up for 2024--after a short breather for a well-deserved little celebration!

Should The Fates be tempted by a punny mortal wish for a purrfect end to this week?

I appreciate the positive news. I turned off my TV, resorted to rereading an old novel and am trying my best not to stroke out. I have already sent the dumb blondes in Texas to hell and back with their rape-desired babies to which they deserve, if not the poor babies themselves.

Well, I celebrated the expansion of your universe; not necessarily filling it with cats, even if cats are the animal most deserving a reputation for having domesticated humans.

I couldn’t help myself and followed the election results obsessively this evening. There was no red wave aside from Florida. Due to DeSatan’s gerrymandering the repubs took the state Except for a democratic house seat by Maxwell Alejandro Frost. An impressive “Gen Z” 25 year old. He’s engaged and ready to take them on. He represents the future of our democracy. It appears this age group came out in record numbers to vote this election. Very positive news. Aside from Red De Satans’s Florida, the dems are holding on and the repubs are not getting what they thought would fall into their laps. I’m sick that JD Vance won but ecstatic that John Fetterman beat the odious Oz. Anyway there is more to come but it’s better so far than I feared and many predicted. I’m thrilled about the Friday Feline stories, My 15 cats and I have many to share. Thank you TC for sharing your stories and keeping us informed. 😸

Another take on the election returns, so far, and I do not think that she's gone out on a limb:

“Dems have a Florida problem, but Republicans have a Trump problem. That seems harder to solve.” — Jen Psaki, former Biden press secretary

I snuck a peek at my email about 9:00 last night as we were counting and preparing the report from our vote center in LA County and saw THERE IS NO RED WAVE and thought 🎉. This morning, as I'm avoiding standing on my throbbingly sore feet and ankles, I read the post and feel 🤗. Our center was in the auditorium of a school, and teachers brought their students for mini-tours throughout out the morning. They were electing their student council, using iPads to tabulate. It made my heart go pitter patter because we did that at the last school I taught at. (Ooops, not a well-structured sentence for a teacher.) Parents brought their kids with them to vote; a BUNCH of first-time voters 🤸‍♀️; many voters from the predominantly immigrant neighborhood. All in all, a good day for democracy.

Yes please with the cats. Your posts yesterday meant so much, reminding me that no matter what happens, there are other things in the world to help us hold on.
