I snuck a peek at my email about 9:00 last night as we were counting and preparing the report from our vote center in LA County and saw THERE IS NO RED WAVE and thought π. This morning, as I'm avoiding standing on my throbbingly sore feet and ankles, I read the post and feel π€. Our center was in the auditorium of a school, and teachers brought their students for mini-tours throughout out the morning. They were electing their student council, using iPads to tabulate. It made my heart go pitter patter because we did that at the last school I taught at. (Ooops, not a well-structured sentence for a teacher.) Parents brought their kids with them to vote; a BUNCH of first-time voters π€ΈββοΈ; many voters from the predominantly immigrant neighborhood. All in all, a good day for democracy.
