I’m in IN. The county north of us is White County… Terre Haute, IN used to be headquarters of the KKK and home of the grand dragon. I have friends from Highland, IN … a big “issue” for them in the 80’s, maybe?, was when the fire department became public and not volunteer… because word was nobody would volunteer to put out the fire in a black families home. Racism is nearly as deep here as it is in the south. Perhaps couched in restraint and some disgusting sort of”manners”.

As I recall, back in the 20s, Indiana was the national capital of the KKK.

Yes and it lasted for awhile. Shameful to me, but a source of pride for others.

Prejudice and bigotry is EVERYWHERE. Lots of Midwestern areas are lily white.
