Sara’s positions line up pretty well with most of the friendly people who post here on TC’s page. She also has been critical of Israel’s incursion in Gaza notwithstanding her Jewish heritage. She is the granddaughter of Joan and Irwin Jacobs of Qualcomm fame (with whom I’ve worked on philanthropic endeavors—Joan passed a couple weeks ago), and so her campaigns had been funded by her grandparents to date. Her grandparents have been good people and not self-important rich types but I can’t be counted as a disinterested observer. Her early campaigns were marred by missteps which I attribute to the consultants she was using; I hope, but do not know for certain, that she has dumped them. The one area where I do not know Sara’s positions well (or that of other members of her family), is in the area of labor relations. Don’t know if she’s pro-union, which is an issue important to me but not commonly appreciated among the well to do. However, based on what I know to date she would be an improvement over Padilla. I will caution that the Democratic Party here in California is becoming a bit musty and self-satisfied and so the party will circle the wagons around Padilla. Sara may not attempt to unseat an incumbent.
