Mary Pat, I live on the property where BAтАЩs headquarters while he oversaw West Point were - and where he was found out. He was a fascinating man, who cared deeply about the cause, was a naval hero, was gravely wounded and was not rewarded the same way as more socially acceptable generals were. Not an excuse, but as with people like Ho Chi Mihn and others, his maltreatment by people of inferior minds molded his resentment. Great story. Tragic outcome.
The Cable TV show "TURN: Washington's Spies" did the complete story of Benedict Arnold very accurately. Another reason to like this excellent series and recommend you go find it and watch it.
Arnold was a brilliant strategist who had sacrificed a great deal for the war effort. So not at all like DJT.
Oh. Thank you for this. Need to do some reading.

Well then, I meant to offense to Benidict Arnold.
Wow. You feel the history daily! Thank you for these insights. Can you recommend a book on Benedict Arnold?
Three come to mind:
Valiant Ambition by Nathaniel Philbrick
The Tragedy of B A by Joyce Lee Malcolm
Angel in the Whirlwind by Benson Bobrick
