The new Republican playbook for elections has one rule: If A Republican Loses An Election, It Was Because The Lib’ruls Stole It. Larry Elder, who 20 years ago was a slightly funny conservative talk show host on a station we here in Los Angeles have called “K-K-K-FI” for so long I can’t remember when we started that. He was so harmless that Democrats went on his show; it was a place where the conversation was generally pleasant and the usual rules of public politeness were followed. By both parties. Hell, I used to listen to him if I was unfortunate enough to get caught in the evening rush hour(s), as a source of amusement.
Only thanks I will offer out is that the nonsense appears to have revved up people from all walks of life and all walks of the political spectrum to get off their butts and vote and not simply expect the majority opinion to triumph.
Seems like the line in the sand has been crossed for a lot of people. The Big Liars are not threatening war, they have declared it. So we will see about the Big Truth’s “well formed militia”.
I guess what I'd say about Governor Newsom is this: if you make rules for everyone in the state follow them yourself. How many folks at the top of the political ladder have fallen down the rungs for believing their own press about how important they are? That said may he win and win big! That's one thing. The other is this: as soon as any gop candidate figures they will lose in an election they begin shouting "voter fraud". Which of course is a bald faced lie. Unfortunately the media game of "he said, she said, they said" does not help. I've gotten pretty fed up with how PBS Newshour "journalists" begin their interviews, NOT with trying to first find out what may be in a bill and why it is important to the person supporting it, but instead begin with the loud mouths coming out with the usual drivel. Get with it media people! The situation we're in now means that any news organization that is going to have integrity needs to be sure the people listening know what the situation is BEFORE letting the voices of the usual suspects stir up the clouds of dust and debris. I guess this approach is supposed to signal "fairness". Forget it. The "fairness doctrine" dies a very long time ago - under Reagan. Frankly the folks against the BIG BILL which could create a whole new opportunity for everyone in the United States not to mention the planet is this: raising taxes. But raising taxes to not even what they were BEFORE the gop cut everything they could under 45's "leadership". Think about Reagan, and W. Same thing. The vast majority of us, and the earth we call home, have suffered under the stupid ideology that if you let the people with the most keep 99.9% of it, it will eventually trickle down to the good of everyone. Another big LIE from a party that has been about lies and subterfuge for so long they no longer know a lie when the hear it, see it, or tell it.
My liberal sister lives in Orangatang County, with her conservative (and, sadly now, tRumpy) spouse and kids. Before The Election, she and I were in frequent contact as she snuck out daily with her trunk full of Biden hats and signs, and books exposing "The Family," The Federalist Society and other F$#ked trumpist groups. If anyone on the street or in the park gave her a secret thumbs up, she casually gave them a book. What she described reminded me of scenes from PBS's "World on Fire" - and she said there were instances when she felt she was in danger. Love that her weapons were books.
