What makes this piece all the more important is what the special committee did today. I applaud them referring these people to the DOJ. But it would be far better if they simply ordered the arrest of every republican in Congress, and I wouldn't mind seeing the two republicans on the committee as part of it, since both of them helped make it all possible as well. Today the committee dealt with symptoms. The disease still racks the body politic.
True, but I think we have to give Cheny and Kinzinger reduced sentences for good behavior. They have both taken it on the chin standing up to the Insurrectionists.
Given that both of them voted against the Electoral count Reform Act - which would solve the problem they have been dealing with on the committee, I'm no longer optimistic on any conservative who remains in the party.
yeah, there's always THAT. as I might have mentioned before, during the really intense hearings, a good friend of mine said that he thought he could actually vote for Liz Cheney. after a friendly "fuck you," I enumerated the many reasons not to do so. after a few deep breaths, he agreed.
it really WAS...he's the kind of friend you say that kind of thing to...first roommate, songwriting partner...THAT kind of thing. he's probably reading this.
"Yes, but: The bill passed 229-203, but just nine Republicans voted for the bill, including Cheney and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), the other Republican on the Jan. 6 committee."
I found it hard to believe they wouldn't. It would go against what they've been saying and doing for a year and a half. And they wouldn't have anything to gain.
I know that. I could have said that more clearly. However, the speaker controls the sergeant at arms, and if anybody thinks if he becomes speaker that #KremlinKevin, the Bakersfield Benedict Arnold without the courage and known servicers of Lev Parnas's financial and sexual desires, won't do what his treasonous caucus tells him ....

Maybe probation instead. :)

According to Axios:
"Yes, but: The bill passed 229-203, but just nine Republicans voted for the bill, including Cheney and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), the other Republican on the Jan. 6 committee."
If they did I am glad - I had seen other sources that said they didn't.

that was just me, heaving a sigh of relief.
The January 6th Committee does not have the authority to "order the arrest" of anybody.

No one here believes that they have that authority. They just assume they don't need to add /s for that here.
What does "/s" mean?
"off snark" - playing on the computer command
Thanks for the clarification -- I am 75 years old and have trouble keeping up with the latest. By the way, I enjoy your writing immensely.
