Thanks for this great reminder of what it takes and what it will take to stop a rogue political party that is on the way to becoming exactly what Putin has done over 20 years in Russia. Thanks for this great reminder of what it takes and what it will take to stop a rogue political party that is on the way to becoming exactly what Putin has done over 20 years in Russia. I'm reading Fiona Hill's book and I hope lots of people read it and take to heart the thoughts she has about changing the dynamic of our times. Too many people and communities have been left in the dust. "Mansion" does not see that or chooses to ignore it in favor of his own and his family's substantial bottom line. As far as Sinema goes - maybe it should be spelled "Cinema" as she is filled with nothing but fictions despite there being an asteroid headed for democracy. Well...onward and hopefully upward. I frankly am not interested in a totalitarian state which is what follows an authoritarian state. It is all part of the evolution of political shenanigans. Democracy on the other hand requires constant rebuilding in order that the people may be able to lead decent lives with not so much threat hanging over them. I do not remember the last time people felt somewhat less threatened. If you're Black or brown, or an immigrant, maybe you've always felt threatened in this white based social order. But that is on the way out and that is one more reason the gop (aka republican party) has chosen this fact as its rallying cry and organizing principle. Everyone with a shred of decency and a strong sense of morality and ethics must indeed refuse their organizing strategy and work hard to overcome it's pernicious effects.

Thanks very much for your powerful post, Linda. Good words with which to start a new year as portentous as this one.
