When the whole wing of a party, and maybe the party itself, has gone over a cliff, pulling them up isn't worth the effort -- if it's even possible. And we really do need to be discussing policies *now*. Because otherwise we're fighting for a bunch of "centrists" who will sell us out the first chance they get. Thank heavens the Biden administration didn't take your approach and hold off on policies till the anti-democracy forces were vanquished.

When Biden ran in 2020 there were many centrists who voted for him. They didn't view him as Left. He spoke about bringing people together without being too specific. He still speaks like that. The Right is already attacking Kamala for her gender and color. They're trying to paint her as an extreme Leftist whose agenda will include everything from making their children transgender to open borders so gang thugs can come in and rape their women and children. It's already happening. Sometimes the enemy of my enemy is my friend. What we're fighting for is to make sure Trump is soundly defeated.

And I'll end with what TC wrote earlier in Comments: "Joe was certainly a centrist. What he enacted between 2020-22 definitely wasn't. But the way those things were marketed allowed centrists to join on for them".

The Right has been doing this for at least 50 years. If you're a never-Trump Republican, making sure Trump is "soundly defeated" might be enough. Those of us whose lives and/or livelihoods are at stake, and/or who believe the country can do better than just that, are aiming a little higher.

Then we're on the same page. I believe the country can do much better, too. The next three months are not going to be easy. It is a war, and we need all the help we can get. And if Kamala wins, Dems significantly take the House and even pad the Senate, then go for it. No holding back. I sincerely mean that. Until then I won't relax.
