Silly me. I was holding out hope that Patel would be dismissed as a bridge too far. The stress, exhaustion, & unending travesties must support a revolution not bury us in despondency. The betrayal of Ukraine , the successful takeover by the war criminal of our democracy is almost too much to bear but it must result in our uprising & not our surrender. Future rights for fair elections are looking scarier everyday. Good trouble is calling. Anger & sadness are a tough cocktail to swallow.
And now Mike Walz is saying Zelensky will sign on to a deal that gives Trump 50% of Ukraine's rare earth minerals in exchange for some level of guaranteed security. When the first offer was made by Trump they gave Zelensky an hour to sign or the deal would go away. He did not sign because no leader wants to give in to a cheesy mob shakedown. My advice to Zelensky: Consider the fate of the Trump University marching band, the Trump family charities, the bankruptcies. The only thing this serpent can guarantee is regret writ large. He will withdraw the US from NATO, breaking that guarantee of mutual defense. Ukraine will just be another victim of the con.
I can't miss your masterful summaries, Tom, but I am now taking the Excedrin 30 minutes before reading. Still there is break-through.
I was wondering what the hell these folks are smoking but the more I read the more I realized they’re into the heavy psychedelics, the kind that make you see things that aren’t there 😏
Gee, Tom, will anyone even notice that the government has shut down? I thought that happened at noon hour January 20, 2025. Let's see? Shut down USAID check, Shut down HHS, check, fired 60,000 Civil Servants, check, invaded the Treasury Department and took over the payment portal, check , invaded the DOJ, check, starting investigation into investigation of January 6, check - well I guess it might take him three weeks to shutdown Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the VA.
#1--perhaps someone might wish to inform Vance that many evangelicals absolutely DO NOT BELIEVE IN DRINKING ALCOHOL. But then again, they supposedly follow the 10 Commandments, so maybe they don't really care about that anymore.
#2--PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD OF FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 28th, TOTAL ECONOMIC BOYCOTT.
Do not purchase anything, anywhere! Send a message to TRUMP. Plan ahead so your small business friends and allies are not hurt by this.
“After the first death, there is no other.” —Dylan Thomas
Which, in practical terms, means: after the first national crisis, there’s no stopping the sequel, the reboot, and the inevitable gritty prequel. You’d think catastrophe would be a one-time event—like a bad breakup or an ill-advised date—but no, it turns out democracy unravels the way a cheap cashmere sweater does when you catch it on a jagged piece of reality.
And if Dylan Thomas were alive today, he’d probably still say:
“Deep with the first dead lies London’s daughter,
Robed in the long friends,
The grains beyond age, the dark veins of her mother.”
But if I were writing it, I’d say:
“deep with the first democracy lies the American dream,
folded up with last year’s tax returns,
shoved into a drawer so overstuffed it barely closes,
wedged between expired passports,
a handwritten note that says “‘We should do something,’”
and an old campaign button from when hope was still in style.”—
And yet, we’re all still here, ordering lattes and doomscrolling, because what else do we really know to do?
Great Dylan quote at the end Tom 💥 the resistance level is building, the trick is to stay sane as it gathers strength, which is easier said than done. I really do believe that the most accurate way to describe him is Satanic. The bizarre thing about it is that he’s obviously not all there, as evil as his intentions and actions are, he’s propped up by a bunch of whisperers who suggest things to him, which in his demented way he likes, so when he opened his yap it’s their ideas that he vomits out. The media has focused on muck and he’s no doubt a big part of this, but the quiet ones that have his ear are perhaps more dangerous. I can’t imagine bringing a lot of harm to this nation and its people for profit, and thinking that you will survive it, they will be hunted down to the ends of the earth. Better to not have been born.

Exactly right.
Before I even read the text, the photo of Elmo caused me to think vicious thoughts about how to apply that chain saw.

Donald Putin, that's his name, and let's not forget it.
Mike WALTZ.
Is he a Republican? Are his lips moving? If yes, then he is outright fucking lying.

Ketamine.
“Desolation Row” love it. One of my favorite Dylan songs. And somehow fitting.
“Now at midnight all the agents
And the superhuman crew
Come out and round up everyone
That knows more than they do”
You got me on a Dylan kick Tom. Thank you for the work you put in to keep us informed yet smiling through these challenging times.

Thank you, TC another miserable day at the circus!
Re Fort Knox: Where is Geraldo Rivera when you need him?
Re Masculinity Anxiety: WTAF? How are these guys really believing this shit?
Advice about masculinity from a guy wearing eyeliner? Surely even transsexuals could laugh at and ridicule him for that.

Desolation Row is perfect for the day. Where is this generation's Dylan?
