Can someone please explain to me how the president can confess election interference at the inauguration and nobody says or does anything? Is it not illegal anymore? Was it worth it to ignore this to preserve the lie that our elections are free and fair? This hellscape could have been prevented but for the illusion of free and fair elections.

As some people knowledgeable about how voting is run in Pennsylvania (different computer programs in different counties; some counties do hand ballots scanned in, etc.) have said, this is Trump's BS to "trigger the libs" because it's actually impossible - please people, stop thinking Elmo is some technological genius; all he ever did was buy companies created by the actual technological geniuses, force them out, then steal the credit. He's never been "Chief Engineer" of a good shit.

Look up the word 'keyfabe'. It's a flood-the-zone technique, saying outrageous things in ways that try and make it seem true, to distract and misdirect energy. There are enough protections around elections that it's extremely unlikely that what he was implying actually happened.

Not illegal for him thanks to 6 "Justices" of the Supreme Court. I'm sure they consider the immunity ruling to be retroactive.

By the same token, President Biden would have enjoyed that same privilege. Ignoring election crimes does not make him more righteous. IMO.

Are you suggesting that President Biden ignored election crimes? Otherwise, I do not understand your comment.

SC reserved the right to decide who had immunity. Joe would have been hanged high…

I wasn't ignoring that statement. I viewed it as a kind of taunt. This FOTUS would just say his statement was"official business" and would be given , yet another free pass.

I never thought I would,or wanted to, live to see the death of the great American experiment, but the ignorance of the American people led them to do this to themselves. The pardoning of the insurrectionists is simply too far into lawlessness. We know the constitution is dead when Trump pretends to swear to protect it and in the next breath he begins destroying its most important function of maintaining the rule of law. I was born in a democracy and shall die under fascism.

"They couldn't get the flags to go up despite trying for two hours because the cords were frozen solid & stuck to the poles".

I'd like to think that was Jimmy Carter looking down & saying "🖕 you, trump" (even tho I know he wouldn't use that language.)

Would it be sacrilegious to go into a church and light one of those little candles and make a donation in the little box, then pray for the success of that hamburger?

Expand full comment
Carol Stanton (FL)'s avatar

If it is, it's a 20-candle, $20 into the little box "sacrilege "! Big guy , big hamburger!

( BTW, God is laughing even harder than Hillary Clinton about the misunderstanding that Trump is divinely ordained for this moment. She thinks that is hilarious!!!)

if one accepts the gnostic notion that God is a demiurge (aka scumbag), one could easily see how that could account for TFF's divine ordination.

or mebbe he's the Antichrist?

actually, I think I'll stick with the Antichrist thing...it just sorta feels good.

I figure the experts on what to do in churches would say it was self-canceling or something. I'd certainly go there.

the funny thing is that because my wife was, among many other things, Leader of Song in some Catholic churches, I've been to Mass exponentially more times in the last forty years than I've been to shul.

Musk's Nazi salute, pardoning the J6 storm troopers and Jake Tapper normalizing Trump almost did me in. With the executive order about the transgender community, I wonder if we should ask Caitlyn Jenner if she still supports Trump. According to Trump, Caitlyn is still very much a he. Everyone who supported Trump is going to get fucked one way or the other.

Garth Hudson!??!? The real musician behind all that wonderful music of The Band? That unsung genius who was content to let Robbie Robertson hog all the credit?

That Garth Hudson? God bless his memory.

Well, at least it’s now crystal clear who our enemies are — Trump made that possible by giving the Oligarch's game plan away and surrounding himself with people driven by lust and greed. And thanks to alternative media platforms like Substack and Scheerpost, we know that not all members of the so-called Fourth Estate are scumbags, sycophants and morons. And since it looks like this struggle is going to be a grassroots guerrilla war…well, just look what happened in Vietnam. As poet Gary Snyder once said even “the insects sided with the VietCong.” Best of luck at the VA!

Re: From the Department of the South needs... Cheney, Kinzinger, et. al should respond to the subpoenas, insist that their appearances be broadcast live, and answer the questions openly and honestly. I can't think of a more effective way to demonstrating the idiocy of the Republicans on the committee and, if there are any Democrats, they'll have a chance to retell the truth of the situation on live TV

Unfortunately, the witnesses cannot force the hearings be televised. Indeed, they may be questioned by staff behind closed doors. It is entirely possible that the Republicans will shrink from seeking public testimony.

Loudermilk WANTS to question those folks in private so the hostile committee can twist and cherry pick from the testimony. DO NOT let them have their own way. Remember, Hunter wouldn't testify to the committee unless it was public. He well knows the Plantation Repubbies "riggy" ways.

Thanks for all your incredible writing Tom. Failing that, may all of us who are patriots, sane, and know exactly what the score is become the Santa Ana winds blowing hard and furious throughout DC.
