Josh Hawley won reelection last year. (He beat Claire McCaskill in 2018 to get into the Senate.) The reason he is against cutting Medicaid is because Missourians codified Medicaid expansion into their state Constitution on a ballot initiative and any changes to funding would absolutely fuck the state coffers. Missouri has already slashed everything to the bone (read Jess Piper on that). Maybe he’s not as much of a dick as he plays on tv, but I think it’s more because of what would happen to MO directly.
Well put. I’ve read in multiple posts that his focus on the topics of risk of cuts of Medicaid, SNAP, Medicare, and already happening with FEMA… That his overall record is unchanged, so DON’T trust him as becoming a centrist, by any means. Red alert there!
His current focus is NOT an overhaul of his overall political stances !!!
Do not be deceived by: OpEd (in the NYT?) and speaking out in other venues, including recent Senate hearing with (Christie gnome<< 😂😆😂Siri and I are constant buddies and I have to leave this in) Kristi Noem re. FEMA, DHS budget fiasco and other topics…
I love that! Sometimes Siri actually makes mistakes worth hanging on to! I’m legally blind and Siri (and Apple accessibility and their team) have been a life changer. Since 2018, I have had Siri read everything to me in *Australian Male Voice 1* voice and some of the pronunciations he comes up with are hilarious.
This is a great post. You have challenges being legally blind, but it takes me back several years to when I lived in an apartment near a good friend at the time, Judy Barnes, legally blind, and I had always worked with hearing impaired in my elementary school, kids integrated into the regular classroom… All fascinating. So it’s great to hear how the Apple functions have been a lifesaver. I’m rushing sometimes or it’s very late, close to midnight, and I’ll neglect to check before clicking on send… Siri isn’t naughty very much of the time, but it does happen… I use only my phone right now so dictating is so efficient. I’m good on a keyboard with a computer, but life kind of turned upside down several years ago and a lot of stuff is in storage; I misplaced the charging cord for my laptop and just… Stopped using it. I know I would enjoy returning to its use because some functions are more efficient by far, better than using only my phone, but still, it’s phenomenalone what one accomplishes with this one small device! Mind-boggling, in fact. BusyBusy Bee. I’ve seen you before on Substack. Hi there!
Hi Katherine! Great to make your acquaintance. FWIW, I’m also a Katherine, well, Kate. 🤪
I stopped using a laptop or computer of any kind about 10 years ago and have been exclusively using an iPhone or iPad only. I don’t miss having a computer except for not being able to play GOOD video games anymore. But since I’ve got to be about 3” from a screen to see it and I rarely - if ever - let Siri actually type shit for me, here I am. And wowza am I grateful that I just upgraded both my phone and iPad last week. Right under the gun of Donny’s new tariff mania. Good timing there, eh? 🤣
There was a post by Kate listing maybe six Substacks she reads regularly as her basic fare, and I began an answer that my list matches hers. Then I got carried away, listing the second layer out like concentric rings in a still pool when you toss in a pebble … I felt like I was going off track and never sent the response. But I’m sure you post as BusyBusyBee and not as Kate. But there is a Kate out there. :-) My blind friend Judy worked on a desktop computer with a screen elevated, fairly dark blue background, very large white font… She was busy all the time on that computer. This was back in the early 90s… I’m sure you have support through some sort of organization… certainly sounds like you have found your way. I once helped at a convention for the blind up near San Francisco airport. My great uncle, like a grandpa to us, called me Katie, and my cousin, who passed in 2021, used to call me Sister Kate, a moniker several special friends use now when we are writing one another.
I love that! There is an organization that runs out of the Boston area that a few members of my family have been involved with over the years. It’s called The Carroll Center. They do stuff ranging from self driving car capability studies (REAL FSD would be just about the hugest thing that could ever happen for the visually disabled community, imho. I have an e-bike and sometimes even that goes too fast for my eyes to be able to process my surroundings. But being able to live wherever you want and never have to worry about getting from point a to point b would be fucking amazing!) to education programs (adapting to being blind, etc.) to weekend camps for blind kids to whatever. They’re always coming up with new stuff and I wish there were places like it all across the country (the world?).
Yes, I post here (and bsky) as busybusybee. :-) Tom shared my JackJack pics the other day and I used to post a lot more often on the Bulwark than I have lately. So, I’m sure you’ve prolly just *seen me around*. We have excellent support here in Connecticut. They’d get me a computer if I wanted one but tbh, I’ve become so accustomed to a touch screen (and my *pencil*) that I kinda can’t be bothered. I just gave my son my *old* iPhone (14… I hadn’t planned this upgrade for some time but his phone died and what else was I going to do? Buy HIM the new phone? Lol. No. 😂) and it’s got more storage capacity than the HD in his MacBook - and my new phone actually has a better freaking processor too. Tech is freaking crazy!
(I think I’m going off into one of those concentric rings you were referring to… but I’m hitting post.🤪)
Thanks TC! In addition to the cat pics, you include humor. The Christians blessing Donnie for his stability and moral character. 🤣. What? It was not a joke??? Shocker!
The stable genius bully grifter has made a ton of money off his presidency and his cult still love him. 215 House republicans voted for Idiocracy without caring about the people they represent. 💩🤡🎃
Here in North Carolina we are so thoroughly gerrymandered that almost all reps are assured their ass-kissing of the occupier of the golden throne will be rewarded by his MAGA base. This is like living in a dystopian version of Mayberry, here in NC.
You don't think people will re-think now that Donnie has poked them in the eye with an ice pick - the letter from FEMA saying "You're on your own" for cleanup after the hurricane after the Biden Admin was going to cover it 100%?
Leavitt has the "job" she has because she's industrial grade glib and condescending. When she tried to claim Trump's graft and corruption via the meme con dinner last night were done on his "personal time," I wanted a custard pie to come out of nowhere and land on her me-so-pretty mug.
(My fantasy life has kept me out of trouble. So far.) But no one has asked who paid for the chow served at the sacred communion. If it was on the taxpayers' dime, we should sue, if only for reimbursement because the dinner was on his "personal time."
We had a kids' comic on TV many years ago who took a pie in the face almost every day, which made kids laugh. But with Leavitt, she'd go all Nancy Mace and have to spend three days in the ICU because of the dripping mess down her face.
Love your snark, makes me laugh and god knows, we need a laugh. I want to see more of the Target and Tesla Takedown energies focused on the companies owned by the 6 legacy media mega corps. They only care about the bottom line and PR.

The Grok acreage outside Memphis, breaking a multitude of rules and regulations… One hot topic among a zillion others that has no place in the Horrifically Ugly Evil bill relates to AI regulation, would make illegal state regulation of AI, and the federal government would delay regulation by about a decade… Talk about a blank slate! Ally, I’m so happy to finally meet Apollo and Artemis! They are beautiful. Artemis looks a lot like my Patches. She showed up at my place with a terribly injured eye that we had to have removed. She is a lovely and sweet one eyed kitty. Maybe I can talk Tom into posting a picture of her. I am loving everyone’s furry friends.
Tom and and all my fellow readers, I am not going to be silent as this nation is destroyed by the incompetent and (fill in whatever adjectives you want here) administration. I am exploring a run for the US House of Representatives in 2026 to unseat the incumbent, a fiscal conservative and "yes man" to the Current Occupant. I've never considered entering politics until last month. I gave an address about cuts to healthcare during an Indivisible rally in my city, which was well received and led to the local Democraticcommitteeasking me to run. As a Registered Nurse for 47 years, I know the consequences of the cuts. I'm angry and I care about people. So I'm going to do my part to stand up, speak out, and fight back. I'll be filing my election paperwork in early July. It's going to be an uphill battle as this Congressional District is 60/40 in favor of Republicans. But I'm determined to run and win. Wish me well.
And Tom, you are part of my inspiration. Thank you your call to action to each of us. Nancy
That is wonderful news Nancy! What state are you in? I would love to do whatever I can to support you. The cuts will be devastating to millions of people and many of the smaller rural hospitals won’t have the resources to stay open. Please let me know where your district is and what I can do to help.
Nancy, great news! A coalition approached me in 1984 ( summer of Mondale and Ferraro) to run in the Dem Congressional 4 FL. primary vs a guy who was an 18 yr incumbent, really a republican in many ways and thought he would be unopposed. I went for it. We did not win but only had 6 weeks, not much money compared to him and got 39% of vote.We needed a few more weeks!! It was the best education I have ever had ( and I have a PhD!!!). Campaigning is grueling but meeting people and finding out the real concerns was amazing and gave me great energy to keep going. And we forced him to campaign and to debate. Your background as a Nurse is so important as we watch our country's social scaffolding being demolished. Tell me where you are. I will donate to your campaign in honor of all the people who came out and helped me with our grassroots Campaign so many years ago. Go for it. You will be great and will have all the healthcare folks behind you!!
TC, you are a gem of a man! Thank you for including us in your search for excellence and readers!!! You are very good to take our feedback seriously!! You understand collaboration!!

🤭There was certainly a lot of kindness in Mayberry. No kindness in Magaville.
As they say, Gigi, 'the cruelty is the point.' Certainly around here, and comes with a smile and a 'bless your heart'.
Donnie and his gang of goons have nailed that. 🤮Right back to pre-civil war days.

Ally - its a shame your cats are treated so terribly! Under-nourished too!
Shocking! My son's four (4) cats and my one send their sympathy!!!!
I’ll make sure to show them this comment.
They were horribly abused today: we had carpets cleaned, they were confined to quarters AND they only got 3 extra treats!!
Animal abuse!
I have been forgiven. Both of them snuggled with me last night.
Like Ally, I have a ginger and a tortie, besides a tabby and tuxedo.
Love the kitty and dog photos!
Thank you Tom for
kitty's, Unitary Exec.
Theory - very little
mention of this today -

beat their asses.💜
A cat named Artemis. That deserves this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuCuf5tvTqE
That was such a good show! Seems like too many of the current movies and shows are just re-furbished from years ago.
65-69. A reunion movie in '79 or 80. Died of a heart attack in '81.
Back in the good old days! (good show - but dont want to go back)
I LOVED that show, and Artemis Gordon was my favorite!
