From the Department of The Purges Will Continue Until Morale Improves: Trump purported to fire two Democratic EEOC commissioners before the ends of their terms and prematurely tilt the commission to a Republican majority.
Please, we in the DMV are begging: it's National Airport, or DCA. We never use a name that honors that horrid man who fired the air traffic controllers. And now the Felon is blaming this awful tragedy on DEI. There is no bottom to his depravity.
Why is it that these disgusting repubs get so lucky? Raygun fired air traffic controllers and hired far less qualified people to replace them. And no accidents. And donthecon survived a possible high powered weapon attack with a little nick on his ear, attacks his own administration and vice president and supposedly gets re-elected. Where is the hammer of justice?
Thanks. Tom for this roundup of bad news. I'm afraid that's all we'll get until some of the State AGs cases are heard in the lower courts. then appealed to the various circuit courts. If we're lucky none will go to Circuit 5
This is exhausting and inexcusable. I went to an indivisible meeting Saturday and will be working with a group examining the relationship between Project 2025 and the dismantling of theCDC and Department of Education, etc. Stupidly, angry men and born again Christians is clearly no way to run an airline. So why didn’t the helicopter pilot follow instructions? Whatever you do, don’t let this bunch of crapheads steal your joy.
The word is that he was wearing night vision goggles. Take two toilet paper cores, hold them together and look through them. That was his field of vision. He could easily have answered "yes" to the question, and then a moment later have lost the jet, without enough time to recover.
Actually, he has settled on a "DEI" policy involving the disabled. He seems to feel that the policy meant that, say, "serious psychiatric diseases" QUALIFIED you to be an Air Traffic Controller. As opposed to not DISqualifying you from working for the FAA. A really good data entry person with controlled bipolar should be just fine if they are better qualified overall than the other applicants.
Of course, there are lots of aspects to being most qualified. For example, you may be a whiz at data entry but also be have pathological narcissistic personality disorder such that no one would want to be in the same room with you. So much for trump getting hired by the FAA for data entry.
Instead of spending his time railing against DEI and trying to find Pentagon supply rooms where he can sneak drink, Hegseth should try to figure out why there have been so many fatalities during training in at least three branches of the military. The DEI stuff has gotten old very fast.
Re: Dept. of What the F...Arizona Democratic Senators, the same malady that the rest of the Senate Democratic cohort other than Chris Murphy suffers from - a strong desire to have business be as usual so they don't have to take strong public positions opposing Felon47 and his cohorts in grift. Also a seemingly contagious lack of spinal integrity.
If he's interested, Murphy might be a capable candidate in '28. In the meantime he'll have all the support I can give him which, unfortunately, isn't much because I don't live in CT.
My Senators do a good job and are out there every day calling him out. They aren't alone. You have to look for the Dems pushing back. The young and progressive are loud also, but you have to again, search for it.
The problem Hannah is having to search for it. The Republicans are making very sure that no one has to search for what they're doing and, as a result, the Democrats look like they've disappeared.
Yeah, it definitely takes effort. I find that I am usually a day behind. Luckily I still have a local paper that reports on our elected officials, sometimes.
I do wonder because I think Democrats should oppose EVERYTHING. But I remember a story that may or may not be true about Harry Reid (and we miss him now, for sure). The Sierra Club or some environmental group was on him for voting against a bill they liked. When he met with them, he asked what the vote was on the bill. It was maybe 70-30. He asked if he had been with them on a parks bill. Yes. What was the vote? 52-48. How about that logging bill? Yes. What was the vote? 51-49. He said, exactly. You were going to lose on this one. Now I can go home and tell those shitheads that I don't always vote with tree huggers.
At that time, there were still some sane republicans, and some Nevada republicans who might vote for a Democrat. Ah, the good old days.
On Andre Kloster F__k at OPM, as of 1/29/25 DJT, and the acting lackey at OPM, Charles Ezell, & the DC MAIN Office of Personnel Management at 1900 E Street, N.W. DC have been sued by 2 Labor Unions for state, county, municipal & government employees
This is the THIRD aggressive lawsuit by the "Democracy Forward" attorneys.
Note the pleading of two(2) Causes of Action:
Count One: 5 U.S.C. Sections 702-704 of the APA by failing to "Uphold Civil Service Protections & Merit System Principles".
Count Two: Ultra Vires violations of 5 U.S.C. Section 553 against all Defendants.
ABIGAIL V. CARTER, a member of the DC Bar is lead counsel: Contact Email: acarter@bredhoff.com in DC. The Case No. 1:25-cv-00264 located in Washington DC federal district court.
Are those the same "Merit System" principles that 4547 keeps yelling about? That he was elected twice shows the voters don't really care about any stinkin' meritocracy.
This is a good time for young attorneys to jump into the fray and gnaw on the ankles of the power wolves and their congressional pups.
Democracy Forward's attorneys are doing very well.. I have look at the docket their first-filed case but, that last two case including the one above have female lead counsel with their signatures on the pleadings.
When you been hanging out in the Halls of Justice as trial counsel, the Judges already know you have merit when you walk in to the Courtroom.
I expect Abigail Carter to kick some ass. She already has Plaintiffs that can prove-up "irreparable harm" at a TRO hearing.
well, here's some good news from yesterday. From the AP:
The barn owls bringing Arab and Israeli scientists together
It soars over the borders and divisions of the war-torn Middle East, bringing Arab and Israeli academics together. An unlikely symbol of cooperation, the barn owl is now getting global attention.
I have been wondering about the absolute incompetence of the daily shock&awe campaign and knowing there are a bunch of techies and teeny boppers cranking out all this garbage, it now makes sense. I guess fat guy and his girlfriend Elon got what they paid for (assuming these McDonald's rejects actually get paid...maybe bitcoin?)

Frightening and frustrating we have four more fucking years of incompetence and entitlement hoo boy.
Actually, 3 years and 356 days. Let's look for all the good news we can find.
This is exhausting and inexcusable. That really needs a WOW emoji. We don't often hear about the limitations of 'high tech' equipment.
Wow, TC. I have not seen that plausible reason affecting navigation of that helicopter anywhere.
Only reason flooding the airwaves from the WH admin is that it was women and people of color that caused the crash.
I swear the clown car now has Pennywise at the wheel.
Thank you, TC. I cut a cardboard roll from wrapping paper to create play goggles. You are totally correct.
Salud!
🗽
That's thanks to James D. Fallows, fellow pilot and "connected guy" in DC.

Thanks for the explanation. Facts help and keep us clear of committing since of conspiracy 🙏

OMG! Horrible.

Chris Murphy is brave, intelligent, and courageous. We have
To beat the spineless, brainless wonders.Folks like Murphy need our loud and clear support.

Same here as far as the local paper is concerned. Substack and Bluesky have become better sources for news and reinforcement.
I heard on the news radio that the controller was doing the job of two positions when this happened. And a friend forwarded this:
