When trump visited the USS Arizona Memorial during his first maladministration, he was totally bored not even ten minutes into the tour and couldn’t wait to leave. But the next day while on the way to Hickam AFB, he stopped to tour the trump Tower hotel in Waikiki and was there for over an hour…priorities, priorities…the only thing that interests trump is money, so a trip to Hiroshima and Nagasaki to absorb a history lesson is truly casting pearls before a swine.

It's reported that Iran has hacked the WH computers. Do tell. I imagine there's a lot of hyperventilating going on along with a lot of explanation prep, flat out denial, or claims of AI run amok. And the GOP eunuchs are all home, hiding from their constituents. I hope there is a tell-all re: the Epstein Files and revelations about chatter about TACO behind his back. That would keep the sound and fury coming and keep it in-house. The less any of them come out of their bunkers, the happier we can be. Perhaps their acid reflux problems will become as serious as the ones they've given us.

The flooding in Texas and loss of lives are just awful, and especially that they cannot find the missing child campers. SC and NC may encounter similar devastation this weekend. Have to rely on private charities and luck from here on out. Thinking good thoughts for the children and all the families affected.

The trump graphic is fantastic and unfortunately for us, way too accurate!

The cats are awesome, the news from Trumplethinskin about the usual, and the solution still some time away. Time the Democrats could use to form an effective and active opposition, identify some dynamic and attractive candidates, and get ready to implement Project 2027.

I'm still seriously angling for George Clooney to be the Dem POTUS nominee. I also see our young Arab American mayor in Dearborn eventually running for a high state office. He did his time in the State House and is said to be very good to work with. His educational background is in public health administration. I have been urging every sane young person I encounter to consider running. I want candidates whose arteries can't be heard hardening. Of course, the big issue is financing a campaign. Dems are working at a real disadvantage unless they do what some of the magas do: break campaign finance laws.

Clooney would be interesting; Reagan did well for the Republicans. Choosing his running mate would be an exercise in balance striking.

I think Clooney's intelligence would far outplay Reagans!

His politics might, but Reagan was a bright guy and very good at reading the room. Had he gotten better advice he'd have been a much better President.

You have Reagan nailed. He didn't do all the things he did - president of SAG, governor, president - without that ability to "read the room." I met him in 1973, his last full year as guv. When he came in and shook your hand and spent a moment talking t o you, even someone as anti-Ronnie as me could think for a moment there wasn't anyone else in the room but us.

I met him in 63 when he was campaigning for Goldstein. A friend and I were wandering around under the bleachers and came upon an unlocked Rolls. Since neither of us had ever sat in one, the opportunity was irresistible. As we were discussing with a CA State Trooper why we were there, Reagan came up and, as with you, it was just the three of us and he made us both feel welcome. It was some time later when, to steal a phrase, I didn't leave Reagan, he left me.

Guys he was an actor - made a lot of movies - of course he could read the room. I'm sure he could convince anyone YOU were the only one who mattered.

I still think intelligence wise - Clooney - another actor - had him beat and has more character.

He will need someone with military chops. I'm thinking Gov. Wes Moore of MD, Jason Crow, or Ted Lieu. The magas probably won't run Vance because he just doesn't inspire confidence, phony or genuine. Neither does Donjr., but they might run him anyway.

Moore sounds good. I agree about J.D.

There will be worse 'worse weeks' to come. Lost in all this is the fact that most of this doesn't start to be felt until 2027 and the only recourse will be to impeach him, because these cuts and tax breaks will be permanent. What took 45 years to dismantle may never be undone. It is depressing as all fuck, but unless we can find a way to figure a work-around, none of us will be around much longer. Unless we're very, very lucky.
