Wow! I'm with Sweetie, Tom! 😅😅😅 What absolute madness! I keep waiting for Nurse Ratchett to wander in and lead these numbskulls off for the fresh lobotomies they all deserve. As for removing elmo...maybe Jamie Dimon should get several bags of mail personally canceling chase accounts or at least telling him that muck is really bad for business. I guess we realize yet again there is never just 1 cockroach. So glad for the Grandmas Against the Right (Omas Gegen Rechts) who are calling huge crowds out throughout Germany to oppose the AfD and all Fascist wack jobs. My PEOPLE!

Delighted to hear about Omas hitting back!

Jon Batiste was just removed from the Kennedy Center Board by our Felon In Chief.

Batiste sang the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.Such incredible talent and all-around wonderful human being. His wife, an award-winning journalist and artist, was recently diagnosed with leukemia….for the third time. She painted the art on his piano.

Probably because Jon Batiste played for some years on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert???

Expand full comment

Exactly, never misses a chance to be cruel

Expand full comment

I'm more inclined to think it has to do with the color of his skin and the color of his political leanings. Though it may also be because of the association with Colbert.

I thought the same thing.

---Two memes I have heard are going around.

1. Doesn't anyone want to impress Jodi Foster anymore?

2. The Defense Dept has started a program to encourage veteran suicide, to cut down on the costs of VA medical treatments.

---OK, I'm now confused:

How does getting rid of taxes ON Social Security encourage me to work? It just means my check will be bigger.

If he means getting rid of payroll taxes FOR Social Security, yeah, Grandma's going to be doing all the jobs those immigrants did. Only MUCH slower. Good luck at ever getting any lettuce into the stores.

--On Eric Adams. Apparently this is not a dismissal with prejudice. They can bring them again as soon as he is soundly beaten in November for ignoring the 1985 ordinance stating that the city will not cooperate with ICE. (Yep: 1985). Oh, and because even New Yorkers aren't big on electing corrupt mayors anymore. Come November, the indictment axe will fall because he IS after all a shining example of a corrupt Democrat. They will just add "accepting a bribe" to the indictment.

--I hope John Legend and Taylor Swift stand outside the Lincoln Center busking whenever a trumpie fave is on the schedule. Is there a nearby rooftop? They could do a Beatles.

--what exactly did Fauci DO that violates state laws?? (Well, or Federal, either). Will Florida first pass a law that forbids medical professionals from ever telling the truth? The NIH actually still has a page up which states, inter alia, "Although there was no national directive mandating that states implement particular coronavirus control actions, the number of states with statewide stay‐at‐home orders increased"

The page also has the word "inequitable" on it. The technobabbies so far have missed it. Makes you really trust the AI they are using for searches.

Fauci's great crime was he was right, and all the witchburners don't like that.

This is DeSantis trying to curry enough favor with the Prince of Darkness to get some kind of appointment in his administration because he's term-limited in the current gig. It's desperate and pathetic, like Ronnie himself.

"How does getting rid of taxes ON Social Security encourage me to work?" I wondered at first myself but then realized that if someone is receiving SS AND also earning above a specified amount of money then SS payments can be taxed, in whole or in part depending on how much more was earned.

Expand full comment

yeah, but they are taxed if your other income from retirement funds goes over a certain amount, too. This might work for young'uns of 66 or so. I'm gonna be that grandma out watching lettuce wilt before I can bend down far enough to pick it.

Expand full comment

Yes, I realized after I posted that the taxing applies to any additional income above a set amount. What brought this to mind is the windfall I received after selling Oklahoma mineral rights inherited from a great uncle via my father. There went my SS payment that year plus I had to pay taxes for the first time in several years. Thankfully, the windfall counterbalanced the taxes reasonably well.

Expand full comment

lucky you. I ran out of great uncles before I was born, and they left the wind part out of windfall, far as I can tell. I hadn’t realized inheritances were treated as income for Social Security purposes. They aren’t for normal taxation. I won’t ever have to deal with it; no one left to inherit from.

The tax was on the payment for sale of the "property", not on the inheritance which I had received in 2000 after my father died. Great-Uncle Charles bought a section of land in SW Oklahoma in 1910 as oil speculation. In the interim, he leased the surface to a cotton farmer and received U.S. crop subsidies which paid the property taxes but little more (I have all sorts of interesting documents from him). Various oil companies, from time to time, paid for short term mineral-rights leases in case they decided to drill.

In 2001, I took myself on a x-country road trip and, on returning west, stopped to meet the agent who had represented my father for years and to see the territory. Pretty desolate generally, widely scattered ranches. Later, the agent approached me about selling the surface rights to a local rancher who wanted to set his grandson up in the cattle business, and wanted to restore the land sucked of nutrients by planting restorative crops.

On the agent's advice, I retained the mineral rights then sold them a number of years later for a goodly sum which resulted in my SS payment being taxed, because my annual income was too high that year, plus I had to pay federal and state taxes that year. Oh, well - it was still a decent sum even accounting for the subtraction of the taxes paid.

canny G-uncle Charles. My grandfather had a chance in the late 1800s or early 1900s to buy a chunk of undeveloped land in what is now downtown Seattle. My grandmother nixed it—at the time it was a ways away from what was then thought to be “downtown.” Needless to say, it has had buildings from a major Dept store to the current skyscraper ever since.

Does anyone else out there understand how huge it would be if Dump and fellow criminals refuse to honor the national debt payments and stop selective payouts of interest or principle to T-Bill investors?

My Lulu says meow to Sweetie. My vocabulary is challenged when I have to respond to anything about chump and muskrat. You do a good job so I will say ditto. I find it so abhorrent that our country is so full of fools that even one person is fooled by the poorest excuse for a human that we have. He is stupid, and ignorant, and uneducated, and ugly, and a clown by any definition. He pulled off the biggest scam in our history, sitting in his throne and watching everybody be as big a fool as he is.
