just possibly seem connected to the burning of fossil fuels. And connected to super-floods and super hurricanes and horrendous wildfires.

I personally think Homo sapiens is the worst, most destructive species to have evolved so far. Earth would have been better off without us. I thoroughly agree. Most of the East African Plains Apes nowadays are members of the genus Homo Sap, lacking frontal lobes and opposable thumbs. But very definitely, evolution's experiment in biological intelligence that can perceive the results of a planned action and modify its behavior thereby is a resounding failure. East African Plains Apes are generally enjoyable as individuals and terrible as groups.

From the perspective of the ultra rich oligarchs, eliminating NOAA is not insane. They want to privatize it in order to increase their wealth, at the expense, obviously, of all the rest of the world that depends on the vital info NOAA provides. The lead saboteur is reportedly the "richest man in the world" and probably has access to competent counsel -- he and his gang of 19-25 year olds will need legal assistance in the near future.
