“there are far too many abortions in the U.S. and that we cannot be the moral leader of the free world with abortion rates so high.”

Want to talk about moral leadership? Replace “abortions” with “guns”, “corrupt asshole politicians”, “childhood poverty”, “corrupt health insurance industry”, “misogynists”, “racists” … too many other things to name…

Moral leadership headed for the toilet. Joe tried, no Republican will

Ending on the note you did is wonderful. I don't much care for Paris Hilton; a friend of mine who is a dependency attorney has worked hard on this case, lobbying at least twice in the last few months for it. I am thrilled to see that.

My friend was already deeply involved in the process when one of her "kid clients" committed suicide a couple months ago. She redoubled her efforts.

Saw a kid kidnapped from 8th grade once for one of those places. The “bad” kid in a perfect Morman family.

I can’t “like” this. Awful.

It was, the parents had two guys come and snatch him from the lunch room. No warning. he came back after a year, in worse shape. Some parents shouldn’t be allowed around children.

So many people should be neutered and not allowed to have children.

And it’s not always the ones who look the best. Had a few shocks, having worked at a district that had low income and projects, and then one with affluent, and educated. I Was fooled by one family, they were present, concerned, and involved. Boy, was I shocked at the sexual abuse, and that their church had been told and all kept it quiet, until the crap hit the fan in a very public way. I thought I could pick out the perps, but some could fool Solomon

That behavior is everywhere.

I’m disappointed in you, Tom. Only 10 f-bombs in this post, when the subject matter deserved at least 3 dozen. Of course, you used 7 of the 10 in your second paragraph alone. I thought you were on a roll. Cheers!

Profanity is fine with me. The image of Trump sodomizing anyone is too much, though, and I would like to forget the terrifying movie Deliverance. (Jon Voight’s political views these days are scary also.)

This one is a Navy flashback for me. Good work, TC.

Just told my s-I-l who has some Christian impulses that I wouldn’t be calling anymore. I’m not fit to be around any MAGAt even though she was a reluctant one. A dab of integrity wouldn’t kill a truly decent person. I may call back when her SS is gone, just to say FAFO. Sorry my Christian impulses have taken a powder. But my empathy impulses are fine, for any deserving soul, animal or human

I’ve only read a few paragraphs, but I had to break in to say your perfectly written and unequivocal disdain for all the fuckers kindled something in me that felt very satisfying while at the same time had me exploding in laughter! :D. This has happened several times before when reading your newsletter.

I'm going to start using WFTY (we fucking told you) more. It's kind of a companion to FAFO that's become more common, with all of us hitting the FO stage now. WFTY is the perfect companion.

I suspect that the senator from Misery was quoting Mrs. Hawley, whose views on the sacred right to control someone else's medical, lifestyle and reproductive choices have been argued before the formerly Supreme Court with some success. He may also have been putting her words in Kennedy's mouth to make it sound like someone else supported it.

Tough guy Hegseth needs a body guard? Funny, that, inasmuch as Tammy Duckworth and Charles "Golden Age" Grassley don't. Is it a swipe at the Capitol police or an acknowledgment that he's just not "all that" or his enemies list includes grannies like me with knitting needles?

Laughed myself into a coughing fit:

Hawley also said Kennedy told him “there are far too many abortions in the U.S. and that we cannot be the moral leader of the free world with abortion rates so high.”

Expand full comment

So in S. Carolina they are going to fix this by proposing a law that would lead to the execution of a mother who had an abortion, thus making us the moral leader of the free world. Us and Iran, it's a tie.

If she has other children who depend on her, might that be a bit of literal overkill?

Maybe they want to explain their law is just about sluts (without husbands or children.) As we all know, women are 100% responsible for unintended pregnancies.

Mount Griftmore.

My horse vet here in CO mountains told me this past spring that Bird Flu had jumped to camelids i.e., llamas & was a bigger concern than the West Nile virus now. We are already witnessing a mass extinction of birds & insects in the 'natural world.' That it is a planetary cycle makes it no less disheartening.

I thought the service with the biggest fundie problem was the Air Force. Then again, they have special ops, so there you go. I know Mikey Weinstein of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation has been waging pretty much continuous war on the USAFA for decades.

Sometimes people turn out much better than you expect. Paris Hilton obviously outgrew her vapid phase and took on a worthy cause. Good for her.

Took her awhile, but same for some I knew in high school. Some just get old.

Paris Hilton: I went to boarding school for seven long years (67-74) in Jamestown, N.D. 58401. Ten months out of the year 1,023 miles away from home. Anyone ever mentions Siberia, I tell them "ever fly to Jamestown, North Dakota in January?" I witnessed so much abuse it should have been made into a fucking documentary years ago. I came home for Christmas and summer. I would beg my mother to let me go to public school. I hated that place. When I read Paris' story about her time in "reform school" in the 90s, I cringed. I heard horror stories 30, 40 years later about the school I went to from former classmates. Made me angry. She always seemed to me to be a lot smarter and cagey than she looked. People who survive that kind of abuse are to be commended. Thanks, Tom.

You left 1 out TC. Rand Paul

has decided Elmo Muck

would make a fine Speaker of

the House. I was duly

shocked and looked this up

for quals. Holy shite! You only

have to be a citizen of the

USA for 7 years to fill this job.

That's a fuck up!

Elmo wouldn't last a month in the job before one of his fellow congesscrtters - likely from the same party - assassinated him. Further proof Rand Paul is even dumber than you think he is.
