Thanks, Tom -- great pix!!

Not a PEEP on the national news about any of these protests across the country.

The media in cahoots?

I haven't seen the evening news, but I only saw coverage from a protest in a town about a hour from here that's very red. (We're in CA) I'm betting that the news coverage, was more because of the few MAGA hecklers, then for thr protest itself. Hooray for those brave protesters, going against such strong counter-protests!

Mostly scared I would guess. We can’t count on the media to do the right thing anymore. Wouldn’t it be nice if Tom’s pictures made it to mainstream media, but finally getting to put a ❤️ on something I really liked was a real treat.

Also covered in detail by Ari Melber/The Beat and Lawrence O'Donnell/The Last Word. Unfortunately, this reaches only those who watch these programs although the number and size of the protests should be encouraging to those who do watch and may want to join additional protests local to them.

We had ~200 (!) opposers in rural Woodstock Virginia today. It was fantastic. And our local paper wrote us up! https://www.nvdaily.com/nvdaily/our-democracy-is-at-stake-hundreds-march-in-woodstock-to-protest-trump-administration/article_ab571b20-e7eb-52ba-aabe-cfa6655507c7.html

A good thing in the midst of chaos, hope Covid stays away. Hope we all have the physical stamina for the trials ahead. It’s mind boggling that the normal trials of life aren’t enough for the chaos monsters. They make up problems to add to our misery. And their “solutions” are just an excuse to sell us down the river…

Pretty good turn out in downtown San Diego near the County Administration Building. Our local fish wrap (Union-Tribune) appears to cover it. Forgot to bring my F6 (I’m still using film).

I moved to digital around 2002, a great car by the way but that’s another story, when my eyes failed at focusing my Leica rangefinder, it was a titanium M-6, I loved how that camera felt in my hands. I started using Leicas in ‘72 with a M-4, the M-6 was the first one that had a meter, speaking of meters, but that’s also another story.

I'm happy to hear the turnout at the Count Administration Building but I can't find an article in the UT about a local protest, only an AP article covering protests more broadly. But, at least, the UT did have something... https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2025/02/17/presidents-day-protests/

There were a few mentions on legacy media - not what it warranted but some rather good ones. I believe there was one by ABC news I saw mentioned on Bluesky which gave a few locations and a few estimates and ended up with the delightful news that something like 1.8 (memory so not accurate but awfully close... 1.78?) MILLION Brits signed a petition demanding the invitation to FFOTUS to visit later this year be rescinded... and that protesters last week had mass mooned one of FF's buildings. Talk about a photo op the press missed...

We had a good turnout in NYC, I’m guessing several thousand with a march from Union Square to Washington Square, stopped some traffic, lots of bullhorns…hopefully this will increase but a good start to the ‘resistance’ !

Tom, the police just observing--perhaps they are a bit pissed that the J6 who brutalized police got sprung as well and tend to agree with the protestors?

I wish I could have protested. I have been laid low by some horrible virus for a week now. I am fully vaxed for everything, and have been tested for flu A & B, and for COVID twice--all negative. This feels like the COVID I had before, and I told my friends if it came out that there is a new COVID variant that is not detected by current methodology, I would not be surprised. One replied that with the new administration, "we'll never know if there is. "

:-(

True that.
