Whatever you do, don't have a cover where a woman in 40's clothes stands looking up at the sky and planes fly in the background. Have you SEEN how many historical novels about the war have a version of that cover now? Once upon a time the cliche was the one lighted window in the glowering mansion on the cover of every gothic romantic novel. Now its the freakin airplanes. Just search Amazon for "ww2 novels historical fiction" and you will see what I mean.
4. 2. From a distance (scanning the airport bookstore, eg.) 2 is eye-catching with clear name and title. 4 has the benefit of looking down on visible land -the target 🌍 with that gorgeous blue Mediterranean Sea color. Up close 4 is the more complex cover that I would keep coming back to and wondering about the story, take the book in my hand and read about the author and then head over to the cash register 💙.
We have 2 votes for # 4 from our double subscription status home. We liked all of them but I thought the blue cover stood out & husband was partial to the B -52 which his brother flew on as a crew member & lived to tell about it. "All goddam heroes".
2 and 6, because of movement of design of aircraft and conservative, consistent typeface of 2; 6 because the aircraft looks like it’s sweeping atcha. (I’ve been wrong before..)
I vote for number 4. That’s the blue of the Mediterranean Sea.
I like 4.

No worries, these are the choices.
I agree!
Clearly 4. The coastline provides a sense of place.
#4 absolutely!
#4 is the most striking, I also like #1!!!!
I was going for #1 as well until I saw #4. Love the blue sea and the movement of the plane.
#4. Really striking image against the blue sea!
Definitely #4!

4 is best.

Number 4. It makes the brain smile. Type could be a bit whiter or bolder. Best of luck with your sales.😻 Hi to the kitties!
Actually, the color was red, which I have let the art department know. Having "Finito Benito Next Hriohito in red will really stand out.
I'm a #4 fan too but I had the same feeling about the type, esp. in TC's middle name.
Lone vote for #2 here. Looks like a "sweep."

4, for both color and detail
#4 got my attention. Makes the plane image really stand out.
I'm a sucker for P-38s but I agree with the blue sea down below in number 4.
number 4. It is high contrast and I can read it across the room. It helps us baby boomers to be able to read without glasses!
