I refuse to watch ANYTHING that has numnuts in or on it. From what I saw in another "critique" of it - pretty much the same as the CNN one - as you said! What the he** is the point? Why these kids - because thats what they are, think they are capable of getting something new or intelligent out of him? Why bother! They're just as scared of him as the repubs.

My TV died three years ago and I decided not to get another one as the level of programming had dumbed down so much, particularly in the so-called news and sports departments. Considering that trump is the #1 attraction on the boob tube, that validates my decision.

Ms. Welker is already compromised. She was part of the gaggle of 'reporters' who part-tayed in Milwaukee last month with the Trump surrogates, playing "DeSantis Bingo," along with fellow NBC colleague Dasha Burns. So, it's meet the new host, same as the old host.

"If we asked the tough questions, they won't come back."

well, as I said a few posts ago, Keith Olbermann was predicting that this interview (which was a horrible idea for introducing a new post from the get-go) would be a disaster; again, he was correct. they'd advertised that there'd be fact-checking, but if it was there, it needs to happen in real time, and it didn't. he lied and lied and lied and she was respectful and demure. for which, fuck her.

yeah, MSNBC seems to do its hiring straight outta Harvard (I'm willing to be they're all "Communications Majors") and those degrees seem very good for resumes. period.

remember also that Keith was basing his predictions on that dinner the three T**** hit-men threw for all those sucker DC "correspondents," rendering them all compromised by definition. Kristen was the main one on his list, as she's from his old station. he was already calling her "the next ex-host of MTP'" and so she will be.

if NBC wants to have a really good MTP, why not try Mehdi Hasan, their only real "take-no-prisoners" interview guy. I'd have LOVED to see how he'd have handled The Fat Fuck.

Me too, but The Fat Fuck would never agree to be interviewed by Mehdi. He knows he would be run over by a steamroller. The Fat Fuck only likes to be interviewed by women that he can intimidate. What I don’t get is why is anyone giving the treasonous accused felon the time of day? And acting like he is a normal presidential candidate ???

I have a TV. I'm not hooked up

to cable. The only thing I watch on my TV are my many

DVDs, when I feel like it. I rarely, if ever YouTube, don't

stream. J6 you bet, President Biden #1, Jack Smith oh yes

and a must watch for any of

the orange puss sacks trials.

Have become very picky about MSM and do a lot of

research on what I do read

from that source.

On another note, President

Zelensky of Ukraine 🇺🇦 will

willbe here in the US this week. If he does address

congress, I hope he reams

the f#@k out of the cowardly,

fascist, Nazi rethuglicans.

Someone should!

Have a nice evening. 😁

Expand full comment

He won't, but if he does, he has nuts made of carbon fiber. His country depends on military aid. Rock, meet hard place. The other side of that is that the entire party of sniveling cowards eats everything and everyone to hold onto undeserved power. Maybe he gets that.

Expand full comment

I'm sure Zelensky understands "undeserved power" to his core. That was

a really excellent description

of what he's been up against.

He's trying to make semi allies wherever he can to save his people and country. He's a very shrewd operator in many aspects and those who underestimate him, are fools.

I can dream he has those balls you speak of, but his

country and people are more

important right now. There may come a day though, when he lets that very hard

core I've seen in some recent

photos of him, come out and

play some real hard ball.

Did you hear the joke about the lawyer who went on a yacht cruise? The yacht capsized and sharks attacked all of the passengers thrown into the water, except the lawyer. When rescued, and asked why he alone survived the ordeal unscathed, the lawyer replied, “Professional courtesy.“

I sometimes wonder if a similar effect obtains between Trump and news presenters. People like Welker are in essence entertainers, not journalists, at least not in any traditional sense. Perhaps they instinctively cut some slack for a fellow entertainer? Just a thought.

I hadn't heard that joke before with the Lawyer delivering the punch line. The Hollywood version is that an actor and an agent (not together) take the Catalina ferry. A wave sweeps the agent overboard, and there's a shark heading for him that turns away at the last minutes. Everybody says "It's a miracle!" The actor says, "Nahhh, it was professional courtesy."

I am reminded of Fred Allen's definition of Hollywood, "You can take all the sincerity in Hollywood and put it into a flea's navel, and still have room left for a Rolls-Royce and 10 percent of an agent's heart."

When Reagan was president I could not STAND his voice. At one point I was working at a bookstore that played a classical music station in the background. Whenever news came on and there was a clip of Reagan speaking I would leap up from wherever I was in the store and turn down the volume. (small staff and owner agreed with me )

Little did I know how much worse it could get.

She's up to the high standards of NBC's Stupidity Index. Yes, what is up with these people----perhaps (given the recent revelation of fear in the senate) she's really afraid that she really is in danger. Or perhaps she really is too stupid to understand the situation this country is in---or perhaps she enjoys interviewing "dictators on the way up". Catastrophic whatever the case......

what's been dawning on me for the last day or so is that there's a sort of general unspoken agreement that, while MTP is a "quality" show, it must never ever make its own news.

when' the last time it did? it feels like everyone loves to memorialize the wonderfulness of Tim Russert (largely, as far as I can make out, because he was a nice guy...he never made ME watch), but I don't remember his show ever making news as such.

then Chuck Todd...a terrible joke on every level, mostly because HE SEEMED IN ON THE JOKE!

now Kristen Welker...they guy who did the lighting made her skin look lovely; we should give her THAT.

I don't know how Harvard has been since the millennium, but my parents met there, and they had a fairly large circle of close friends who had mostly come together there. My mother was a Hornbein, AKA Jewish royalty of Denver. But they were grad students at Harvard in the 1940s, and I'm aware of some turkeys that have graduated from Harvard since the millennium, including that twit who runs that meta thingy on the internet (or did he ever graduate?).

my best friend not only went there, he was one of ten people who distinguished himself as an artist, according to the Crimson about six or seven years ago. his brother had to point this out to him, since his affection for the place is hardly manifest (he says the main thing he learned there was that it was time to get to work...and Reuben Brower taught him how to read). whenever I find myself at CCNY (the one place I applied, having virtually grown up on campus), I start to cry on general principles...it's the place in the world I feel most at home.

I did watch it.

What I object to is all the free “campaign air time” they give this guy.

Are they prepared to give all the other candidates equal time? Is there any other multiply indicted criminal they sit down with for an hour or two?

These things are “ interviews” in the same way candidate “debates” are debates--not! I had no expectation for anything other than the lies, the distorted lens, the burning narcissism, the blame game “ I am victim” word salad we got.

I was reinforced in my belief that the guy is a dangerous mess, buoyed up by his current lead politically but looking older, more dissipated and even scared. I could smell the sweat!! He still sniffs a lot-- but now it may be to swallow air as he legally takes on water.

On the other hand The Atlantic’s Quinta Juracic “ Trump on Trial” (October, 2023) tracks the parallel time frames of the courts and the campaign. It is depressingly clear that both will be chugging along right through the election. Then, if Trump should become President again, the question, says Juracic, would be “...what to do with a felonious chief executive.”

Buckle up kids!!

The idiocy in TV News is so prevalent that I am convinced the corporate overlords who own the news networks and most major newspaper chains are calling the shots, about whom to rake over the coals and whom to treat with brushed kid gloves..... And, of course, planning for the click bait campaigns seems to be high on the list, another great reason to have ranked-choice voting - with ranked-choice voting, no one will know the results until all the votes are counted and the second and third choice votes have been apportioned to the eventual winners. The whole country will win.....
