Excellent. Personally I hope one of these adds makes him so angry he has a fatal something...heart attack, brain aneurysm, stoke, or he chokes on his sixth hamberder. I don't care, just make it soon.

I start each day with that wish.

My cousin sent me this a couple hours ago - almost deleted it thinking it was the Repub one! Hope a few of the basest(!) will watch it by mistake thinking its the other one!

The other one made me sick!!!

I have never seen such a revolting ad as that God Made Trump. Every word in it is a blasphemous lie. As a person of faith, (not that evangelical junk) I found that Trump ad deeply offensive.

I cant imagine anyone who wouldnt find that offensive!

He shoots, he scores. The Lincoln Project outdid themselves with this one. Thanks Tom.

That’s brilliant! The only problem is he will be proud to be grouped in with his idols. Hopefully it will sink in and tip a few fence sitters away from him. But his cult morons will just love him all the more.

Sadly, I think you’re right.

How are you doing with our storm?

Expand full comment

The ice hasn’t hit us yet. It’s supposed to arrive here around 5pm. The weekend was a challenge in the gorge though, with high winds. We only got 6 inches of snow but our temperature this morning was -2🥶. It hasn’t gotten above 12 until today. We’re a balmy 16 . How are you doing? You must already be in the thick of the ice storm.

Expand full comment

I am. Stuck with 2” of ice everywhere. The city plowed my street (a secondary roadway) Saturday night, scraping our Graupel away and letting the freezing rain turn the street into an ice sheet before more Graupel fell. It’s a “wintry mix” right now, but there’s melting going on. I hope this clears by tomorrow afternoon.

We have a Canadian neighbor who put on her ice hockey regalia and scared around the neighborhood…

That’s a lot of ice! I love your Canadian neighbor though, making the best of it! I just found out they closed 84 in the gorge between Hood River and Troutdale. Guess I won’t make it to work in Portland tomorrow. 🤷‍♂️

Don't bother . My brother in Beaverton is keeping me up dated and you might as well stay in bed or by the fire. Balmy 64 here in Altadena, CA

Maybe I will head to Altadena instead. Your balmy 64 sure puts my balmy 16 to shame.

Beautiful indeed..... I saw the wretched original, and nearly dropped my eye teeth watching this beauty. I imagine ketchup is flying as we speak.....well done Rick Wilson.

I think ketchup throwing was the intended goal.

Thanks for the link, TC. The “original” nearly made me barf.

Expand full comment

I know! And this is so much more fun when you've already seen the original which is such flagrant idolatry I've shown it to two people already as proof Trump is a charlatan and that he is not actually a Christian.

Talk about a slap to the face. 😀

First, because they specialized in these kinds of things when they were with the republican party, Wilson and company are really good at this. And this is great.

Second, if Nimarata Randhawa Calhoun Haley or Ron DeFascist had won last night, they could have just substituted them.

Cartoon going around: A person says, “I believe Gd sent us Trump.” Groucho Marx says, “Why? Did Gd run out of locusts?”

Priceless

For decades I have found myself singing / dancing Groucho's priceless refrain " whatever it is , I'm against it " whenever I witness the repugs trying not to legislate. Great film that allows comedians to speak truth..

"I sent this man to test you, and until you cast him down, you have failed."

The Evangelical Christians who support Donald Trump are only kidding themselves when they say that their faith commands them to do so, though they are no doubt truly sincere in the moment when saying this.

But what they are ultimately demonstrating without even realizing it is that their worldly partisanship is, in fact, much, much stronger than their supposed faith in their true Lord and Savior. For every damned one of them knows, if they were to look deep, deep, deep down in their Sunday School heart of hearts, that while Jesus Christ would indeed love Donald Trump unconditionally, he would never, ever condone the man's words or actions. And any church that does so and still professes to be faithful to the Son of God is a complete and utter failure as a Christian institution as well as a dark and blackened moral failure as a promoter of the fellowship of men of which Christ's Apostle John so eloquently speaks:

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1 John 1:7

"and until you cast him down, you have failed."

Props to Rick Wilson and The Lincoln Project.

God couldn't have said it any better Himself.

It probably means very little, but only 53% of Iowa white evangelicals voted for the Mango Mussolini.....that may be a glimmer of hope, or just the result of -40 degree temperatures.....

Expand full comment

I'd like to think it "meant something," but as Chris Cillizza points out in his analysis of last night, if you add up the 51% who directly voted for Trump, and add in the 80% of DeSantis voters who said they would vote for Trump if DSantis wasn't in the race, and the 30% of Haley voters who said the same thing, you come up with around 70% of the voters who would vote for him if the others weren't there. And that is - as they say - a "respectable number".

I am astounded (as Captain Renault would say, 'shocked, shocked') that so many people in this country would even consider voting for the Orange Rind when polls going back decades show that the majority of people want the government to do things that Trump and his evil entourage will never do, and in fact will try to make worse if they can. Boy howdy, Goebbels was right on the money.....

Those Trump-adoring evangelicals give religion a very bad name, right up there with the Inquisitors, pedophile priests, jihadists, Jim Joneses, etc. There must be lead in that holy water.
