The ice hasn’t hit us yet. It’s supposed to arrive here around 5pm. The weekend was a challenge in the gorge though, with high winds. We only got 6 inches of snow but our temperature this morning was -2🥶. It hasn’t gotten above 12 until today. We’re a balmy 16 . How are you doing? You must already be in the thick of the ice storm.

I am. Stuck with 2” of ice everywhere. The city plowed my street (a secondary roadway) Saturday night, scraping our Graupel away and letting the freezing rain turn the street into an ice sheet before more Graupel fell. It’s a “wintry mix” right now, but there’s melting going on. I hope this clears by tomorrow afternoon.

We have a Canadian neighbor who put on her ice hockey regalia and scared around the neighborhood…

That’s a lot of ice! I love your Canadian neighbor though, making the best of it! I just found out they closed 84 in the gorge between Hood River and Troutdale. Guess I won’t make it to work in Portland tomorrow. 🤷‍♂️

Don't bother . My brother in Beaverton is keeping me up dated and you might as well stay in bed or by the fire. Balmy 64 here in Altadena, CA

Maybe I will head to Altadena instead. Your balmy 64 sure puts my balmy 16 to shame.

Leif, my bro just got off the phone. The snow is starting softly but harder than 4:00 and is going to be serious tonight. Road sare icy slippery for his Subaru, so just stay put is the best call. My neice, Lucy was a cardio intensive care RN in a big hospital in Portland until burnout and recently got her Nurse Practicioner certs and is busy and happy. Stay warm out there. I love the Gorge. My son in Madison said it got up to a toasty 5 above yesterday. He's a sixty year old So. Cal beach bum. Loves ice hockey and trout fishing and never came back.

Maybe Lucy worked where I work, at OHSU. I am a Nurse Manager there. It’s the biggest hospital in Portland. Since I’m a manager I can work from home so that’s what I did today and will be tomorrow.

No, she was at Provedence. You would have loved her. Serious people skills and top of class at Arizona State in nursing. Went back to school after bartending for fifteen years after dropping out in freshman year. She could have put that experience in a Clinical Psyc thesis. Smart cookie.

You’re right I would love her. I’m sure she developed very good listening skills as a bartender that all good nurses need,
