Too bad the U.S. Congress isn’t constituted like Parliament or other legislative bodies where they call for special elections when the bodies can’t find majorities to conduct the business of the government. We have to endure this nonsense for two years until the next election cycle…but in a way it’s somewhat entertaining watching the GOP tear itself apart. It would be funny if it wasn’t so pathetic…
It would be even funnier if their constituents ( us) and the country as a whole didn't have to suffer the consequences of such a glaring lack of governance...including the whackdoodles obvious lack of desire to do the work that they were "hired" to do.
it really IS too bad, Dennis. do you think the "founders" would have gone for this particular system if they could have foreseen this particular two-party system? I like to think NOT. in this kind of two-party environment, it's always seemed to me that you need a parliamentary set-up. today is a pretty good illustration of that.
I’m pretty sure that the Founding Fathers could not have foreseen all of the consequences of their creation of a republic or that their system would allow someone like trump to become President. Democracy is messy but it’s definitely better than the alternatives.
There have to be at least 9 of the 18 who are reasonable people and who don't want to have to hide from their neighbors every time they go home for fear of being ridiculed over the actions of their party colleagues. Democrats need to think a little bit outside the box and steal the show.
Dave, I may not understand your comment. Are addressing the 20 Republican insurrectionists who persist in voting against McCarthy? If they are your targets to be turned around my Democrats...are you talking about THEM?
No. There are 18 Republicans who were elected in 2022 from districts Biden won in 2020 and would likely win in 2024. Those people didn't run to serve one term. They can be dealt with - or at least enough of them can be on any given issue.
and thanks from me as well for the "disambiguation." terrible word, as words go.
and no, it's not funny. but I have to admit, there is definitely something entertaining when a bunch of terrible people insists on enlisting their colleagues in a repeated game of circular suicide. I guess that's the schadenfreude so many of us are talking about; the proverbial chickens coming to roost, as they always will.
and let's face it: if you're someone like, say Boebert (who needs a makeup consultation...she looks jaundiced), the kind of national attention she gets whenever she says something vile and/or stupid is something she's gonna need to nourish herself until the blessedly last time she draws a breath. I knew that her conflation with MTG couldn't last, but the "break" happened much sooner than I anticipated.
Two different brands and good to learn that the democrats have some options with the republicans in brand B, the elected representatives in districts that Biden won in '20.
TC, the words and tone of your CHAOS, CRISIS, CONFUSION AND CRAZINESS siren blares through air and covers America.
'.. this Insane Clown Show is their only real political currency. That’s their appeal to the MAGAts. The insanity is the point. It is performative terrorism.'
More Americans see and hear it. Thank you, TCINLA.
I watched most of those votes. I have got to give the three nominators a lot of credit for saying what they did without bursting into laughter. Stefanic is an incredible liar. She was all gussied up to suck up to Qwevin!
The insanity is, indeed, the point, and it has been going on, uninterrupted, for at least 7 years. Right out of the playbook for establishing an authoritarian regime. Coup 101
Why do you say that all it will take is 9 GOP congressmen to get a discharge petition? if a majority is 217 or 218, wouldn't the number of GOP congressmen needed be either 5 or 6, given that there are 212 Democrats? thanks
they already are. my understanding is that they're "demanding" the unredacted originals. they obviously are looking for revenge and they can all go fuck themselves.
and when I say "revenge," I don't mean trash-talking or writing a nasty letter to someone's boss. I mean revenge, as in somebody could get killed. as we've seen, a lot of these people aren't exactly rational actors. while those scumbags in the House feel empowered to say just about anything and then laugh with each other when they're off-camera, the people who listen to them will (again, as we've seen, over and over again) do just about anything. it's pretty fucking scary.

I find it very much less than entertaining.

Thank you, TC. Clearly, I did not know who Dave was talking about.
Not hard to see why - 20 of this kind, 18 of that kind...

MAGAts, Haha! I missed that one.
I watched most of those votes. I have got to give the three nominators a lot of credit for saying what they did without bursting into laughter. Stefanic is an incredible liar. She was all gussied up to suck up to Qwevin!
There's a real good article on that conscienceless little striver in the NYT magazine by Nick Confessore,
Read it. I gave her the Kari Lake Award for high banked 180o turns.
it was an excellent--and well-deserved--hit job. but he had the help of her college pals, all of whom seem to despise her.
more and more, it looks to me like Harvard has a whole lot of explaining to do.
After she stabbed them all in the back, are you that surprised?
not even a little bit.
Let's not forget what "performative
terrorism" did for Hitler and his crew
of thugs.
The rethuglican house has gone home for the night.
Well MAGA, you get what you vote
for. Such a fine example today of
of how their representatives work
for them.
Democrats in array 🤗
Yes a collection of desperate clowns who are shitting their clown costumes.
The insanity is, indeed, the point, and it has been going on, uninterrupted, for at least 7 years. Right out of the playbook for establishing an authoritarian regime. Coup 101
TC, you called it in the last two posts on the McCarthy circus.
It truly is a SNAFU and FUBAR happening at the same time.
What will tomorrow bring under the big top?
Pass the popcorn and stop bogarting that joint! :-)
Kevin’s going up again....I am betting on six time loser. 💩
God help us all...

You want to do it by more than 218 for the look, and to make it minimally "bipartisan."
Perhaps the names of employees could be redacted on the 1-6 documents provided to the insurrection caucus. Is that possible?
