Absolutely correct. Only a few dems understand the current situation for what it is and what it portends. I'd say an Adam Schiff understands the issue as does a Jamie Raskin. My own Michigan reps are too busy being coopted by The Problem Solvers Caucus in the House, and letting Manchin and Sinema have their way. My own senators are too mealy mouthed to speak up. Everyone is seeking to be nice. The gop is not nice. I don't even use the word republican any longer because there are only a few of those left. All hands on deck for sure, and not just to look at the scenery along the coastline.

I think I can say at least one of my senators, Mark Warner, is taking it seriously. I receive emails from him regularly talking about what you say here, TC, but in his words! I'm pretty sure Tim Kaine is on board, too, but I don't hear from him as often as I do Warner. McAuliffe (Democratic candidate for governor, election this coming November) is constantly reminding people that his opponent is in "bed" with Loser 45. Early voting starts tomorrow, September 17. I'll be voting sometime next week. We do have a Democrat majority in our General Assembly, thankfully!

Good luck - as James Carville pointed out tonight, traditionally, the VA gov candidate of the president's party loses in the off-year election following the president's first victory. So if you guys can hold and put MacAuliffe back in, it will be a big positive sign for next yer.

Also, the delegate in my district is up for reelection, a Republican trumper who went to the Capitol on January 6. There were calls for him to resign, but that didn't happen. So obviously, I am voting for the Democratic opponent. Crossing my fingers🤞🏾 (my emoji button thinks I'm a person of color, LOL!)

I’m reading along and all of a sudden there is your “TA-WHEE…TA-WHEE in caps and I about jumped out of the

bed and saluted. It reminded me of my dad yelling up the stairs at the 7 of us kids trying to sleep in for an extra minute on the weekend….”SOO-EEEE (like he was herding the cows back into the barn on the farm)….GET YOUR ASSES OUT OF BED!”

Hmmmm. This might be the way to catapult the Dems out of their BarcaLoungers.

Or my Uncle George who after having been up since 5 am couldn't stand it any longer, so at 9 am yelled up the stairs..."Hayyyyyyyyyy, y'all gonna get up today?"

One more thing. If only Governor Newsome knew how to talk. Democracy is not a football - it is an antique vase? Really! Someone needs to take him aside and school him or at the least write his "off the cuff remarks" as it is obvious he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

What he was looking for metaphorically was to say that a constitutional democratic republic turns out to be incredibly fragile. It depends on everyone deciding they will play by the rules. If one comes along and won't, it can send the fragile vase spinning off the shelf to smash on the floor. When I heard him use that metaphor, I cheered - he's the first to point out this isn't something you can kick around to score a goal with.

Definitely get that part however the tone of voice and the completeness of his thought was not all that super IMHO.

Pretty terrifying, isn’t it? As we face the near term extinction, we face too, the further events of the insurrection. And the purchase of senators who could make a difference. You rock, TC.

But elections will not be held today, TC. Dems still have time to get their message across and talk trash about the GOP. They've gotta get moving though.

My old boss Willie Brown had one rule for an election. Run early, and run every day like you're 10 points down. Celebrate after they declare you the winner.

We keep thinking that Lucy will hold the football in place this time......(or that she will never drop the "vase", to use the metaphor of the moment!) It is beginning to feel like Groundhog Day!
