I found myself close to tears on hearing this news today. The world's democracies must continue to hold fast against Putin's tyranny and continue supporting Ukraine until Russia withdraws to the borders that were in place in 1991. I realize things can change. Heavy rain is passing through the country and will reach the eastern parts of Ukraine soon. It is currently 11:17pm there, and perhaps an hour later in the eastern area. I feel overwhelmed by hope that Putin will lose what he has begun, but that losing is still a ways to go, I fear. He told the world what matters to him when he said at the speech most did not follow, "Russia has lost nothing." My blood ran cold as I considered all the soldiers killed and the families left devasted not just by death but the constant lying and gaslighting. Supposedly elections are happening now for regional offices throughout Russia. Most of the opposition candidates are either in prison, exile, or dead. That is the form of governance Putin and his right wing want for the world. Just give that some serious thought. Sadly there are too many in the gop who bow to this guy and his wannabe dumba** follower. Voters must deal this movement a hard blow in the 2022 midterms in every state, for every office in which a gop candidate is on the ballot.
