Yesterday, Trump endorsed Jungle Gym Jordan (R-Van Heusen) to be Speaker of the House of Representatives. There is important history to Trump’s endorsement. Five days after Trump incited the insurrection and assault k on the U.S. Capitol, which was followed within hours that night by the attempt of 137 Republican lawmakers to overturn the lawful vote for Joe Biden in the Electoral College for the 2020 presidential election—Trump awarded Jordan the Medal of Freedom with no real explanation of why Jordan deserved the highest award that can be given to an American citizen. All other awards of this medal include a long explanation of what the person being honored did to be so honored.
And don’t forget tfg also awarded Devin Nunes and Rush Limbaugh the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The malignant narcissist apparently saw his reflection in the pond scum floating around and put medals on them.
Well, of course I agree and this is well done, but there's a key point: Every single republican in Congress was a January 6 conspirator.

Not easy, but possible.

A "disaster for the Republican party" is a good thing, in that the current iteration of that party needs to go the way of the Whigs and the Know Nothings. That said, we need to support the actual conservatives in building something not infected with fascism. The laws of aerodynamics apply to politics: the eagle cannot fly with just one wing. As much as I like living in California with a Democratic governing majority, there is some really stupid shit flying around that might not have gotten off the ground in that form had there been someone able to critique it effectively before launch.

Anything else is at best a short-term solution and a bad one. Don't know if there is anyone like that though.
