I look forward to a day in November when all of the Trump junk is behind us.

Oh, I expect he'll grift from prison if he ever goes (unlikely). His kids will grift, his wife will grift, and it increasingly sounds like Ivanka and Jared have a long vision plan to make a come back. However I too look forward to the breather I hope for and expect in November.

I don't expect to breathe until January 7th at the earliest.

So in other words Pierce just sells the use of his name and... the address of a whole shopping center (not a specific business in it? Is that correct?) to be used on legally required business papers which inconveniently might need a US address, or might otherwise need to obfuscate their actual operations or origins. It sounds like Mr. Pierce's client list might be a good shopping list for some federal agency whose business it is to look into business fraud. As far as 45 being on that list... of course he is. I expect most who buy the watches aren't expecting to get high quality so much as points they can call in later.

He’s probably just a registered agent for service of process. Someone can serve him with a lawsuit for one of his 100,000 clients and his only job is to mail it to the client.

Buying any of Trump branded watches, especially at $100,000 is a great way of funneling money to him. The only reason to buy one.

Not specifically, although it is a perfect set-up for it and with crypto, the donor source would be untraceable. I was thinking more along the lines of political favors of ambassadorial appointments or something like that.

Bob Lewis's comment here reminds me of the year my daughter and I made an entrepreneur's kit for my son for his birthday as he was heading off to college. It consisted of a fedora, sunglasses, and a large tan overcoat with a dozen then $2 Casio digital watches stitched into the lining. He managed to give most of them away in the dorm and made himself a known quantity. The hat and coat eventually ended up at the Goodwill.

As for the Trumps, somewhere in the Upper Midwest there's a warehouse full of unsold As Seen on TV stuff crying out for their sales acumen.

FACT CHECK: True, it's the understatement of the year.

The Big Whooper of the year ... or at least definitely one of the Top entries is Orange's: "... I'm the Father of IVF". Really? He does not even admit being the father of Eric.

Hat Tip Jimmy Kimmel 👏🏻

As a once-upon-a-time freelance journalist covering luxury watches (it's a thing, honest), this particular grift has been most entertaining to me. Part of the entertainment has come from observing some of my former compadres taking a serious look at it from a watch journalistic (as opposed to an investigative journalistic) point of view.

I could only say, "Sheesh!! C'mon, people!"

Republicans have a lot of grifts going. Here in Oklahoma a teacher who was well liked by students and colleagues got himself elected to be the state superintendent of schools and immediately transformed into a far right culture war. He banned books, demonized his former colleagues as communists and groomers, and went after trans kids. He hired an out of state publicist to get his every stunt profiled in the Times and the Post. His most recent has been an attempt to institute Bible classes and wants to spend six million dollars on Trump’s Bibles. This is part egregious because when teachers staged a walkout in 2019, one of the big issues was a lack of textbooks in rural schools. He literally has not been doing his job at all

Yeah, I've head of this creep. Another reason to stay well away from Okielahoma, the state founded by Southern white people too stupid to steal the land from the Indians on their own, so they had the government do it for them and have been complaining about the gub-mint ever since.

Sadly so. I’m a third generation secular liberal family. We’re all pretty much refuse who got the land they deemed so worthless that the tribes could have it. It used to be a lot better. Norman in the 70s was a funky hippie town and the county went heavily for McGovern. It’s been downhill since Reagan and reality is that the oil companies have kept it backward so businesses with countervailing interests are kept out. They don’t need an educated workforce. As sad as it is, Texas and Missouri are considerably scarier. We’re kind of indolent.

A $15 Casio digital watch does the same thing as trump’s $100K gold-plated schlocky timepiece at a tiny fraction of the price…what a ripoff, a conman’s wet dream, as in bilking more cash from the rubes.
