TAFM’s Town crier doesn’t carry a handbell and shout “Oyez, Oyez, Oyez! to get our attention -- oh no -- it’s a BUCKET OF ICE OVER OUR HEADS if we don’t stand still and listen to WHERE WE STAND NOW . The news is a lot better than we expected; the Democrats control the Senate, and we are going back to Georgia to get Warnock re-elected to the Senate for a 51-vote majority.

One of my favorite lines in WHERE WE STAND NOW, ‘’What we won is the Republicans won’t get to blow up the planet with a debt default, and we won’t leave the Ukrainians to face Putin alone.’ That is BIG. Don’t we like standing with the Ukrainians against Putin?

Another favorite , “If you want nice things, don’t vote Republican.” Our goals are the ‘John Lewis Voting Rights Bill, more solid action on climate change, codifying Roe’. As for the House, it’s unlikely that the Democrats will run the table to win, but that’s okay, it will be a gas to watch McCarthy in the middle of the Republicans’ clown show in the House.

So, TC went from threatening us with an ICE BUCKET to comparing us to the ‘guys who landed on Omaha Beach.’ ‘You got cauliflower ears calling, hand cramps filling out post cards, and your feet got sore walking neighborhoods.’ ’You people are amazing. You are fully the equals of the people I write about in my books.’ ‘Because of what YOU did, we’re able to live to fight another day. That’s victory.’

Isn't that music to our ears? TC sang our song. We the people delivered for WE THE PEOPLE. Good one! Hey, remember what ‘they’ told us was going to happen to the Democrats as a result of the midterm elections? We showed them, didn’t we?

Well said. Now it is time to do two big things. Secure those voting rights. And then gussy up the Democratic Platform with some real changes that help people and get votes. Restructure Social Security for a raise, expand Medicare for folks 50 or 55 and older, and start helping people pay for child care and housing. Make serving in the military lucrative with lifetime health benefits and guaranteed education and jobs.

Do some helpful stuff and gain the votes of seniors, mothers, corporate slaves and those who are Veterans and love Veterans. Where is the money for all that? It's no secret.

Democrats were the party of the worker - the average citizen who is struggling. Let's prove that we can be that again and stick it in MAGA's ear.

You've got a wish list, baby. My mind is on climate, children, the free-press and social media. Real financial support for Public School Education; how to stop Republicans robbing our children of the education that they require and putting straightjackets on teachers; pay teachers much more, much, much more and support AFFORDABLE HOUSING for real We have to put much more effort in getting the states to serve the people and REGULATE SOCIAL MEDIA!

Yes, yes, yes and more yes!

I have been thinking about the Twitter debacle. While it didn't achieve the numbers of some other SM platforms, it served a public forum purpose. Heather and many others refer to it regularly. It has now been trashed.

So how do we regulate Social Media? Some sort of Fairness Doctrine? How do we prevent insane ultra libertarian madmen like Musk from controlling what was truly the Public Square or at least the Soap Box in the best spot of the Square? Ideas?

The voters staved off total disaster. Thank God Catherine Cortez Masto won in Nevada. Now to help Raphael Warnock win in Georgia. That that race is even a contest proves how gullible some people are. A brain injured former football player, really?!

TC, this post is a fine piece of writing. I disagree with one thing. I would say that if you want to eat and live indoors at the same time, vote for Democrats. Democrats want to help people advance so they can look after themselves. Republicans want to keep their feet on people's necks to hold them down. I watched a Guardian reporter ask two women at a tRump rally if they were ok with poverty wages. One said yes; the other said, "I agree with her." If so many people are struggling HARD in a system rigged by the Republicans, that discontent doesn't bode well for the country overall.

Maybe those two women thought the reporter meant “proper” wages. Duh!

I agree with you, Bill and Fern. I'd like to add developing some reasonable approach to aid immigrants and refugees as well. And since the GOP has made it clear they don't have a platform except to pout and act like spoiled brats, anything the Dems do is going to be progress!

With our current climate changes & the increasing water problems, we really need to address immigration. I keep thinking about the dust bowl of the 1930s and the immigration of "Okies" to California and the upset that caused. Now add in immigration from other countries! (Or maybe it will be us immigrating to other countries.)

TC, this piece of yours was a lot of fun, like a show tune, better than The Music Man.
