Exactly. Once I turned on for the early reports, I turned the TV off again and have kept it off except for a couple of 5 minute views to see if there was anything new. Seldom was so Click, off again. Actually, it's quite peaceful here to not hear the TV in the background as I do other things. Like read Substack posts like yours.

an old friend is particularly amused by this constant drone about "political violence having no place in American politics." I will agree wholeheartedly that violence should have no place in politics (isn't that what politics is for?...uh-oh, NOW who sounds naive?), but to say it's had no place in American politics is to read another country's history. and to hear these Repug politicains getting all preachy and self-righteous, clutching their beads and proclaiming "this not who we are?"
