I’m not a new subscriber, but I do enjoy your posts. I think I like your posts because you manage to rant in such a creative way that I’m not capable of. I’m glad Robert mentioned your post about how the wind has changed. It was marvelous to read something positive happening.
Take a politically-active person out of government, turn him into a screenwriter, then encourage him to use his history degrees, and this mess is what you get. :-)
This Fine Mess is for me a delicious Dinner for my Brain---and often an occasion for laughter and the other day with the Flag a moment of emotion and pride in warriors and peacemakers who forged this country. Thanks, TC. (MAGA use of the Flag is corrupt. We the People need to fly the Flag.)
You have such a wonderful problem, Tom. I have not had time to read Robert's post of last night yet, but your Wind Has Changed, as I mentioned, is up there with your best ever, and seriously appreciated. and forewarded.
Budd Davisson is definitely a character to be reckoned with. I have really enjoyed your posts of him. The one thing that those new subscribers might not understand is that when those of us who have sworn a solemn oath to protect our Constitution with our lives get together, there will always be that common bond. We might argue about where our tax dollars go, or don't, maybe, but that is the politics that our Constitution protects.
Good on you, first of all, for not throwing away whole people because you don't align with one small part of them. And second, for writing this thoughtful, and thought-provoking, heads-up. Personally I enjoy a well-seasoned curmudgeon, as long as they're not hostile and don't automatically assume I see everything the way they do. And of course I have a special place in my heart for pilots.
I went back and looked at one of your recent guest posts from Budd and it's a good one, not yet relevant to me personally for another decade or two, but I'm currently past my max on Substack subscriptions (until I find a new job, 12 weeks and counting). Thanks for being here on Substack, Tom.
Good advice. At my very low, very new Substack level, I'm surprised by some of my new subscribers, but I rejoice at the ones whose profiles suggest that we're in sync in some way. Your solution makes sense. I'm already at capacity for Substack subscriptions, because I'm not going to subscribe to anything I don't have time to read, but when the inner voice says "Do it!" I do it.
That's my morning: YOU, Robert Huttle and HCR!! I feel often that you are a 'spirit animal!' I appreciate your eclectic circle mentality. I wish I had HALF your smarts!! But, I'm second to none in intuition!! And, I'm really grateful for you in my life! p.s. how do you feel about horoscopes? xx's
astrology is a good metaphor, it can provide personal insight. But I don't check an astrologer to decide what to do today. Ditto numerology (I'm an "11" life path number).

But it's a Fine Mess, Tom. I happen to appreciate your eclectic style.
Thanks!
Thank goodness.
I laughed out loud. Again.

we do indeed
A very fine mess indeed.
And the finest mess of readers!

Do more stuff with Budd. He's great.
Always will. He's still flying that Pitts upside down three times a day teaching aerobatics at age 82.
Wow. That’s awesome!
Wow again!
WOW!
If we could only......
WOW!!!
Tom- you are a curmudgeon, a historian, and a poet with a potty mouth. Love your work so much! Thanks for doing what you do.

I saw/listened to this video back in February, I guess. Its as good now as then.
I dont listen to much music anymore. Budd's post was and is a good one. And the message sure hits home - I guess to a lot of us who read TCLA!
Keep on keeping on. Where else can I satisfy my inner geek? ❤️
I do appreciate your candor, honesty, and sense of humor.
I sent The Wind Has Changed to my email list of 70-plus, with a note that it was beautifully written. I'm glad you're getting more subscribers!
I'm getting inundated! What a beautiful First World Problem. And a LOT of paid subscribers.

That's the best way to operate.
The House passed the Ukraine funding, along with
Taiwan and Israel. That's
the most important part of
the bill.
Wind of Change was admirable, Tom. Am so pleased it's getting the attention it deserves. Am
reading your shared take on India right now. An excellent
report.
It is indeed.

I enjoy your posts, TC. You're almost as politically incorrect as I am. So, I guess us birds of a feather can stay together.
You say the best things, Fay. :-)
"The Wind Changes" is deserving of every good word said about it. I hope some of your new subscribers are from those I recommended it to.
One question ❓. Where were Admiral Halsey and the Enterprise when they got the notification ?

Do your new subscribers know of your superb books? I just got a request from a friend to order another copy of "Tidal Wave." His father was there...
They will soon if they don't now. :-)
I got a handful of new free subscribers as well. Thanks Tom.
Good news.
TC, top billing on Jess Craven’s Extra!Extra! post today.

Thanks to Robert B. Hubbell for recommending this great piece. Many of you will have seen it, but if you haven’t, do give it a read. Very uplifting.”
