Yes! That news wore me out... perhaps my initial reaction was immature and shallow, but I could not say anything other than, 'well good for you... I'm eager to see how that works out for you...'
Poor Lindsey Graham. I really mean that. Never anything much to write home about, he has debased himself so far now that my main reaction to him is just to cringe and look away. How does someone get like that? Coming from the Deep South myself, I am willing to speculate that one too many first cousins decided to keep things in the family.
or also maybe something in the water? my whole maternal side is from just about as deep south as it gets, and brains is not something they have in abundance; the SMART ones call themselves "Libertarians." one cousin of mine is so libertarian that he landed at LaGuardia with two loaded handguns in his luggage. needless to say, his arrest only served to justify his politics. in his head. and HIS first cousin is somewhere in witness protection.
when anybody asked my great-grandpa where he was from, he'd say "Little Rock, Arkansas," but in an almost impenetrable Yiddish accent.
