Sooo... as a commenter at Charlie Pierce’s blog posted, “it turns out there is arrest for the wicked.” This past Wednesday, CNN broke the news that Special Counsel Jack Smith has in his possession an audio recording of a July 2021 meeting at Donald Trump’s Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club in which the orange menace lets it be known that he has a classified document the topic of which is a potential attack on Iran. He then goes on to say that the document was written by General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chief, in which Milley argues for an invasion of Iran, which he - Trump - opposed. He then goes on to admit that he would like to share the document with those present at the meeting, but is aware that he cannot declassify documents, since he is no longer President. As Charlie Sykes put it, if it’s real it’s a “smoking tape”- as close to a smoking gun with Trump saying “Yes, this is the gun I shot the guy on Fifth Avenue with” as prosecutors could hope for, because it goes directly to Trump’s state of mind.
Been waiting since the escalator ride, but I’m old. You do give me hope that hanging around a while longer could be worth the effort. Would love to see the cult wither and die. The wannabes just don’t have his unmitigated gall.
I do too but suspect a special accommodation for him because he's entitled to Secret Service protection. He may be confined to one of his golf clubs, but he belongs in Leavenworth or Gitmo. Seems to me that if his convicted of violation of the Espionage Act that he would forfeit SS protection, but I guess we have to wait and see.
Looking at Trump's upcoming legal dance card, I am reminded of an artillery exercise that is sometimes done to impress observers and at other times done to eliminate a strong point in the enemy lines. It's called "time on target" and is usually done at regimental level, but could be battalion or divisional level as well. The concept is simple - the unit artillery officer in charge sets up a schedule for all the guns in the unit - from infantry mortars to heavy long guns - to fire in a particular sequence so that all the shells fired land on the target at exactly the same time. At the regimental or divisional level, the target will simply cease to exist as dozens of shells land in a restricted area. It usually renders any surviving enemy infantry incapable of functioning as combat troops. Trump must feel like those enemy soldiers as the incoming from (so far) four separate investigations closes in on him.....
I liked Mary Trump's suggestion this morning that debate candidates show up with mashed potatoes for the loser. Their bowls would be the ultimate and certainly more localized version of a "shell" delivered on live tv, and just dumping would do quite well visually as a simple example of a round of "mortar' fired on stage.
Great way to start this Sunday morning!!! Gives me hope he will be removed from the political stage. There is hope.....but we will have to contend with a period of his followers framing it as a witch hunt and turning him into a martyr! Still, I would drink to indictments!! Thanks, TC. Keeps the press, cops, and witch hunters busy. Without his smart mouth and great poses, what else would you suckers have to do? Sell tickets? To his next coronation? Come on. Donny couldn't come up with a plot like this. So. He's guilty of what? Loose lips and empty head? Come on. Ain't that why we love him? You guys, you guys make us want to go back out and vote for him again, even if there ain't no election, or go out and find a box or two of votes for him. He the Don of Our Time, the Manno in the size 55 long ( with two pair), the Chetto who really cares about us, that guy who keeps kicking your asses around for us. Besides, if he can do it, why not us, and a legacy wife or two to boot. Give the guy a break. Or, don't.
Look at how this so-called 'dumb ass' has outsmarted us. For how long has he suckered the courts, and along with the master, Moscow Mitch, stacked them to rob the American people? Who's ahead in the Art of the Steal?

But in the end of the play, the master schemer and murderer Hamlet gets done in, so here’s hoping that Fat Boy gets his comeuppance, you know, as in breaking that great bloated bag of wind in public…
