Wonderful story. Great history of women in baseball too.

My oldest son was gay. He was a

progressive force in the NYS Dept. of Family Services. He passed away 4 years ago.

Gay, queer, trans...these are all

people. Why is it so important to

tag them and demean them, by

so many others? How many of

these others have gay, queen and trans in their families but are

too afraid to admit it!?

So many gay, queen and trans are great people. They are our

equals and should be treated

as such.

Happy Mother's Day to all the

Moms who stand by their gay,

queen and trans children.❤💩

Thanks for this post, TC. I have a high school classmate whose Mom played for 3 years in the League. The softball field at Wilson Elementary school (Medford Oregon) is named for her.

A lot of us lesbians ended up playing sports. I remember as a high schooler playing on an adult softball team that I had several people warn me that “there are couples out there”. I’ve been fortunate that I’ve been able to be “out” all of my adult life both personally and professionally. I thank all those that went before me.

💙 this story, thanks for the share. Although it near brought me to tears thinking of how we’re going backwards in FL. Same sex marriage will be next.Your previous post about the WGA strike also made me think of recent Fl Legislation to ensure Major League Baseball team owners could continue to pay players on their minor league teams less than Florida’s minimum wage. 11$/hr !! While median rents in metro Orlando/Tampa are approaching 2K…

I plan to read this article when I have the time so I don't know if it mentions this but in 2022 Amazon Prime introduced a series "A League of Their Own" that details in more depth the lives of these women, including their sexual selves. Well done, well worth watching and I recommend it. It has been renewed for a second (and final ) season and I'm looking forward to it. If you're looking for a good series to watch, check it out!

Unreasonable how God died and put idiots in charge of everybody’s lives. That’s what I tell my brother when he blathers about how some poor creature doesn’t measure up to his standards for “human.”

Good article - I'm sure its no different from any other discipline, or group of people. I guess I dont get why it would be MY right to know someone else's private personal business - whether it pertains to their sexuality or anything else, anymore than their right to know my business. We're all human beings and all different in many ways. I agree with Victoria's comment.

“Once there were some men out in the street, and some smart aleck said something. I didn’t hear what it was, they’d watched till I wasn’t nearby. Anyway, all of a sudden I hear ‘Wow!’ I turned around and saw that June Peppas had decked the guy — and I mean she really decked him. He crawled away.”
