A friend of mine works in DC and says Democrats should be burning up the phone lines of each of these congressional offices. He cited as an example of someone who responds ... a certain Texan by way of Cancun. I love my friend, but he still thinks there are reasonable republicans, or that you can reason with them. But as a blogger named Craig Calcaterra put it so well the other day, every republican accusation is a confession.

That's good - and the absolute truth.

Every Republican accusation is a confession.

I think the psychiatrists call it projection, yes?

Yes, and they are all very good at it.

Or as my late wife and I used to say, if Southern Baptists are preaching against it they are probably doing it. (A bit hard on the good folks, but…….)

"If you go fishing, don't take just one Southern Baptist with you, or he'll drink all your beer. Take two, and they won't drink any!"

Love that one!

... but probably accurate.

trump is a carny barker selling rubes tickets to the Freak Show by bullshitting about the displays within the tent on the fairgrounds. Actually, it’s a hall of mirrors and the rubes are the real freaks.

Hi TC I agree with u and yes they’re swimming in bullshit all day long but I have to share an insight I got about an hour ago. I was doing some grocery shopping and a very fat, tall man maybe about 40, walked by me. We made eye contact and the saying on his baseball cap was— I miss the way our country used to be. There was something very sad about him. I immediately figured him to be a former prez guy but what hit me is just how much former prez has preyed on the working class people of our country who have tough lives anyway. Nov 8 is my birthday and I’m hoping at least some of these close races go our way. Imagine just how scary it was for Mr. Pelosi to be woken as 2 am by that crazy guy!

Yes, that's why they were vulnerable. Good insight

And none of them understand that it's impossible to go back to that "golden age" (for white people) in the 50s, because the United States no longer controls 60% of planetary GDP as we did while the rest of the world dug themselves out of the ruins of World War II.

We seem to have difficulty getting that message across in a compassionate way. I’m just as much to blame. I get so pissed off at those MAGA folks because they are going to burn down our Republic and then everyone will be worse off. But I don’t know how to effectively reach them, and I’m not sure we have time to do so.

There is only one effective way to reach the current Republican party, and it isn't by talking.

Well,TC, I am inclined to agree with Harry Truman's thoughts on Republicans. " The only good Republicans are pushing up daisies."

Unfortunately, Will Rogers' almost 100 year old observation on Democrats still obtains which is why the message isn't out more.

We need to show pictures of Mr Pelosi’s injuries. So that all those lying politicians can see…. What happens when an elderly man is attacked because of the rhetoric the BULLSHIT are pushing.

"The entire Republican Party is now the Party of Bullshit."

This is not new. What's new is that they're flaunting how full of shit they are, and it makes no difference at all. Anyone who was going to switch sides did so long ago. All that remains now is for the actual battle lines to form, and for the blood letting to begin. Which is what this is: a precursor.

Attacking the left physically will continue to rise until it becomes endemic.

"...no political price to be paid for attacks on their opponents..." "...negative political consequences if they do not join in..."

That, sadly, is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, as surely as the sun rises in the east. But in the bullshit world in which these people live their lives, they could no doubt be rather easily convinced that the sun actually rises in the west because the real cardinal points of the compass were secretly altered by Hugo Chavez wielding a clandestine Jewish space laser down in Venezuela. All Trump would have to do is suggest he'd heard folks talking about it, and they'd all probably start throwing away their GPS units and start trying to navigate by the stars.

But of course that's obviously bullshit to any right-thinking person. Chavez was far too busy with helping to rig all those voting machines to have had time for such petty pursuits as that. But then again, maybe the dead are really good multi-taskers.

There is indeed a price to be paid for all this bullshit. And it's all the rest of us who are footing the bill.

Just hoping I live long enough to help settle accounts and balance the books.

Frankfurt is totally right about what we shall fear. Johnathan Swift was a man before our time. Sadly, no genration before ours took him seriously enough, if at all. No hope that we will not be surprised by the bullshitters taken at their word and the honest and deceitful dismissed or questioned for their judgements. The price now is sufficiently high to lay bets as to when American democracy becomes known for the stench of it's bullshit rather than the hope of it's ideas. No amount of Fabreez with hide the winners of the bet.

Nicely done with the Czolgosz reference. Anyone who hasn't read Prof. Frankfurt's little book should. It's short, grossly overpriced on Amazon, possibly available at one's local library and worth the time it will take for the perspective it offers.

The zombie apocalypse is here. People's brains have been eaten by the constantly lying predators on the far right. Now they are shamboling walking dead hordes threatening violence to everyone who still has a functioning brain. Both sad and terrifying.
