The name has been increasingly thrown around in recent weeks, as the Right coalesces around the tale of Ashli Babbitt as a “fine young woman,” a “patriot,” who was “executed.” Horst Ludwig Georg Erich Wessel (9 October 1907 – 23 February 1930), commonly known as Horst Wessel, was a Berlin Sturmführer ("Assault Leader") of the Sturmabteilung (SA), the Nazi Party's stormtroopers. After his murder in 1930, he was made into a martyr for the Nazi cause by Joseph Goebbels.
I covered a campaign rally for the Virginia GOP gubernatorial ticket Saturday. The lt. gov nominee stated that she welcomed political factions of all stripes, including “Lyndon LaRouchie (sic).” The prospective gubernatorial candidate avoided questioning from me and another newspaper reporter (but conveniently spoke to two Saturday duty TV types who looked confused). His ‘communications director” called me and waffled on a phone interview, backing out at the last minute and declining to comment on his LaRouche fangirl running mate. Real late 1920’s Berlin stuff out there these days …

Here’s my comment about any CPAC conference. I just want to know if the stage was the same one used in February. That one, which when I first saw it, bothered the hairs on the back of my neck. Then, I saw a reference the following week About outrage on Facebook or Twitter. The stage was an exact replica of shape of a rune used in Nazi Germany. Always on the collars of uniforms. I never heard or saw this in any media report that week. How dare they.
Your report about Ashli Babbitt shows the extent of their lack of moral conscience or guidance. Disgusting. I could not watch much of this conference, but what has been reported is telling. As usual. It is stunning to see the glow as the bewitched lap up every word from their golden calf. Moses needs to stop in with the tablets in hand.
