That *is* "precisely why Joe Biden chose her," but outside of the Bay Area and dedicated followers of Congress, most of us knew, at best, what we read or watched in the media -- and virtually none of us could combine that with knowledge of what it takes to (a) be VP, and (b) have presidential potential.
There is a certain kind of civic indolence that plays into authoritarianism. There are always maga types who actually want to be led around by the nose by an idealized one-guy so they don't have to independently extend themselves as citizens. They are the gripers and complainers who never do anything to correct the problems they see. They are the spectators in the stands, not the players on the field who must get the job done.
An excellent, and very heartening, analysis!! I'm so happy to see Kamala joyfully bursting out of the woodwork! And from what I heard from a group of international friends that I recently visited with... they're very pleased as well!
I rely of Josh for the inside baseball in a hall of famer sort of way, both on poll reading and whatever Bibi is doing with Gaza. He seems like he is ready to jump out of his skin over what has happened but is being restrained by years of teaching himself not to.
The first night of the convention was very uplifting. Joe’s speech was outstanding. Can anyone suggest a streaming channel that doesn’t cutaway to its know it all panel of reporters? 🤨.
I dislike those panels in the same way I loathe the old half-time football jocks telling us what we all just saw with our own eyes. Bring back the marching bands.
Joe gave his valedictory speech, and soon we'll hear from the salutatorian who will tell us what she wants to do for the country and why we should want it for ourselves, if we don't already. She will encourage us to correct current wrongs and go forward with things that will benefit not just Americans, but America on the world stage and as a partner custodian of the planet. I look forward to Harris's "big reveal."
I didn't watch or follow the RNC convention so I can't make any comparisons to the first night of the DNC convention. It was absolutely ON FIRE. The packed house repeatedly gave long ovations and cheered wildly. The speeches were amazing and inspiring. I can't wait to watch again this evening. Whatever the polls might be saying, my instincts tell me that even the encouraging numbers are vastly underestimating the power, the enthusiasm, the energy and the COMMITMENT of Dems to take this country to new heights. Judging from the abysmal "opinions" of the MSM pundits afterwards and this morning, their billionaire owners are worrying about the tsunami to come and instructing their "not free press" to tamp it down with lies and dirty water. That's just going to cost them more subscribers.
Last night at the DNC was something else! I shall have to watch it on C-SPAN, though, because we were watching PBS and, like all MSM people, they tend to wander and we get what I call the "Fla-fla" - them talking about what they think is important. I would rather have listened to Senator Warnock, thank you very much! As for that guy from the NYT? He's the reason I'm switching to C-SPAN.
I'm currently binge-watching all the speeches on NPR's YouTube channel. No interruptions, and you do get a feel for how the crowd is responding. Highly recommended!
Kamala Harris has always been smart and capable. That is precisely why Joe Biden chose her. What is it about teamwork that Americans don’t yet get?

We can’t get smug - still need to work our posteriors off!

Great report by Josh. Thanks
for sharing it Tom.

This is a WONDERFUL article. Thank you! 🙏

We watch them on You Tube.
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe CSPAN?

Best sleeping pill I’ve had in years, decades.etc. My old bod needs the R and R. But only so I can have the energy for the fight ahead.
