Give me a fucking break. Vote no. Shut it down and blame Republicans because they hold the damn power. I left a lot of messages tonight to Dem senators. I'll call Warnock and Schumer tomorrow.

If eight or more Democrats cave then at least everyone on the Left and Centre Left will know something absolutely for certain - the Democratic Party is not the solution in 2026 or 2028 ... but I think everyone has known that for a long time - Kamala Harris wasn't a solution to the forces of brutal, naked capitalism, and was never likely to be.

There seems to be no Plan B however ... although Ontario looks nice.

Schumer listened and that’s good. There are plenty of smart democrats, including former presidents and people who should have become president if there had not been cheating, lying and help from Russia. The bottom line is republicans own it. They cheated, they lied, they ignored the law and common sense procedures. REPUBLICANS OWN THIS CHAOS BECAUSE FROM THE FIRST IMPEACHMENT THEY WERE AFRAID TO STAND UP TO A FRAUDULENT, LYING MENTALLY MORALLY UNFIT PERSON. He has put together a cabinet of unqualified toadies led by an illegal immigrant. Republicans own this chaos and there is nothing here that sane people that love democracy can go along with any longer.

Other thoughts for repubs~~

-Shit or get off the pot.

-You made your bed, lie in it or fight for democracy.

- stop hiding behind Democrats

😡🤬

Senate Democrats must vote NO. Republicans could have negotiated a bipartisan budget bill if they wanted Democratic support. Instead they shut Democrats out so let them face the consequences.

I absolutely agree - there is no way the Dems should suddenly sing Kumbaya on a bill they had no say in, and the mainstream media is outrageous for insisting they should "prevent the shutdown". Good grief - what a way to run a railroad. America clearly became wealthy despite its stupidity!

First, keeping Dick Durbin anywhere near power was the surest sign that Senate Democrats were in trouble. He still thinks it's possible to work with Senator Huckleberry Adolf Pederasty, the South Carolinian Putin obviously has on a video with a llama, a dead ocelot, a four-year-old boy, Mike Pence, a blowup doll of Benedict Arnold, an autographed photo of Jeffrey Dahmer, a hunk of Swiss cheese, an ocarina, a bungstop, and a leftover Trump steak.

Second, Schumer DID have some cajones. I remember reading a great story. They were trying to pass campaign finance reform and he was Harry Reid's recruiter for Senate candidates, basically. Massachusetts had elected Scott Brown, an unlikely sort for that state, and Schumer came to him with a proposition (and he clearly had Reid's ok): If he would be the last vote they needed to go after Citizens United, they wouldn't make him a big target. Brown said yes. The next day, he stood at a press conference beside #MassMurderingMoscowMitch and said he'd never vote for campaign finance reform. Schumer pulled out the famous flip phone. His first call was to Brown and he apparently said, "All right, you lying son of a bitch, now you'll get yours." His second call was to a Harvard law professor.

Thanks Tom. I've already emailed both my California Senators to vote no or filibuster. The evil triumvirate has already screwed up the Government - for the first time I did not get my Social Security deposited that was due today. Their site says I would get it, but I didn't - I'll put a trace on it tomorrow.

The Republican Party doesn't give a shit what happens to people like me. I'm 92 and have worked for 78 quarters paying into Social Security + 29 years paying into my two State pensions. For 12 years I've been penalized for teaching school and working in Social Services by having my Social Security payments reduced through Government Pension Offset (GPO) and Windfall Elimination Program (WEP) - these punishments were designed to prevent - mostly women - from receiving from receiving the full Social Security pensions of their spouse if he predeceases them..

So The government shuts down and the poor, pathetic billionaires have to pay a few pennies of tax - BooHoo. Excuse the crocodile tears

You rock Fay!

That Social Security glitch was another thing Joe Biden fixed that he got no credit for. Joe and Kamala expected normal human behavior from republicans, as did the rest of the world. The Republican Party could not be farther from the party of Lincoln.

They must vote no. Trump-Musk is already shutting down the government bit by bit. That’s their shtick. Why pay them to do it? Yes, the press will blame the Democrats for shutting down the government. And if Democrats vote for the continuing resolution, the press will blame the Democrats for both enabling Musk to continue shutting down the government and for proving that Trump-Musk has no opposition so why should any of us bother opposing at all.

When you’re in a lose-lose situation, return to first principles. Republicans wanted all branches of government under their control, and they have no interest in bipartisan efforts, so OK, run the fucking government as you wish.

Also proud of my Representative Scott Peters. He understands now. Did I ever tell you he used to be a tenant of my firm?

If the Republicans can't pass a bill while they have a majority in both chambers of Congress, the House and the Senate, it's their fault, not the Democrats for fucks sake!

Is there an oxygen deficiency zone on Capitol Hill that causes permanent brain damage or something?

Josh Marshall and Kate Riga discussed this on podcast Wed. before House vote. A good job airing it out; complicated either way.

That's discouraging, Tom--although I have to agree. Any observer of the Senate Dems would have to admit that it does seem as though any leadership or strategy skills have dribbled right out of the Dems and has been replaced by skeletal structures composed entirely of overcooked spaghetti. I will be picking up the phone today and doing my 5 calls. Those damned Dems need to stiffen their resolve and DO SOMETHING--ANYTHING!!!!!!!!
