When each assault on ordinary Americans passes in the House the Dems' yelling must be loud, colorful, and attention getting so that if the assault gets filibustered in the Senate it will seem like an actual win for the Dems, something that spared us. It has to be all the Dems, not the regulars on TV and X. It has to be a Chorus of Outrage that tees Dems up for wins in 2026. In the meantime, local recruiting of solid Dem candidates must proceed apace. Noise and visibility. And it wouldn't hurt for the Dems to wear black armbands the day after a maga assault passes. (Wasn't it Gypsy Rose Lee who said you've got to have a gimmick?)

They should hire you as the new DNC chair, Judith.

Honestly, Tom, the Dems have to have more of an offensive presence than just being corner men in the arena. A real fight would result in Dems' best leaders emerging into visibility, maybe even eclipsing the raging bulls on the right. They absolutely must be more than potted plants and scenery in the House and Senate. More Moscowitzes, Crocketts, McGoverns, AOCs, Frosts, Sanders, altos, contraltos, basses, sopranos, the chorus needs all of them.

Well Judge Merchan, the NY Judge, just set the Perp's sentencing date for Felon x 34 for this coming January 10, 2025. Recall that Trump himself asked for this sentencing postponement & the Prosecutor agreed to sentencing on this coming January 10, 2025. So be it.

Per Leonard Weissmann at 4:00 PM Eastern Trump will seek further delay, stonewall, delay & further postponement but, more specifically a Writ of Mandamus from the New York Appellate Court. Good luck not-yet-President you're f***ed.

Orange Head this is your chosen Docket date 1/10/25. See page 7 of your Application.

H/t Lisa Rubin. Judge Merchan: "All the matters before this Court & the verdict [are] now more than a year & behalf behind us.

Felon 34 show up for what you get -- if not what you asked for.

Black armbands are a great idea--a constant visual!

Cheap and easy to make, easy to carry in a pocket, and wearers are sure to be asked about them. They are symbolic rather than a written message and could be worn on the floors of the House and Senate. They signify the death of the working/middle class by "a thousand cuts." They've got their red caps, so why not?

I remember at one point Jamie Raskin said he disagreed with MAGAMoses Mike on everything, but he was a really nice guy.

No.

No republican is nice. They are the enemy. And Democrats need to get that through their thick skulls.

I've always kind of liked my variation on a Michelle Obama theme. When they go low, we ....

should get a rusty, unsharpened knife, and perform a castration without benefit of anesthesia.

Ah, yes the GOP/MAGA agenda…nothing of substance, just pandering to the desires of the fickle mob. What a farce, fiasco, and shitshow all rolled into one heaping pile of excrement.

Previously I suggested that the federal civil servants have the know-how to jam things up for the maga loyalist appointees. Here's a great summary and/or plan for just that. This is a war that must be fought on many fronts simultaneously. https://kathleenweber.substack.com/p/resistance-is-silent

Delightful... except for the morale busting part - In my fantasy I imagine enthusiastic, empowered government workers high five-ing each other behind filing cabinets as they play their crucial role in slowing down the agenda in protest against schedule F.

Have you been in contact with the DNC yet to offer your consulting services?

Thanks Tom. We, in the

peanut gallery, better hold

our reps very accountable

and their feet to the blazing

MAGAT fire. Do not give them

one penny if they don't tow

OUR line. I'm already getting

hit with the begging for

bucks. Not doing it unless I

see some real gumption and

no partisan playbook. We

have to retake the house and

senate with good candidates

in 2026. No long shots! No

long odds!

They told us what they were, idiots bought the “burn it down” message. Thank you for the look at sausage making, but those of us who didn’t join the cult must hang on to every iota of truth. Keep it up TC and we will blast it back at them…

According to Brookings and Peterson, the debt ceiling suspension ended on 12/31/24 and SecTreas stated that a new ceiling based on the debt outstanding at that time would be in place on the 2nd of January with "extraordinary measures" unnecessary until at least the 15th because the debt had receded somewhat at the end of the year. It will be interesting in an old Chinese proverb sort of way to see how Mike the MAGAt handles this.

TCinLA makes typos. I tend to picture them as the result of periodically yelling "Arrrgh!" and slamming down the coffee mug or using the keyboard to smack the headline on a NYT article making Trump sound like a masterful businessman a few times: Just a colorful manifestation of the frustration and rage we all feel these days. Inventive cursing can't do it all...

Thanks Tom for getting Rep. McGovern's tweet out. I'm surprised it hasn't been deep sixxed by elmo. Dems need to get their language clear, crisp, pointed, and capable of drawing blood. The other necessity: we the people must not become a legion of bystanders either in our states or at the national level. Like Ann Telnaes formerly of the democracy dies at wapo, we must not bow to the Mump Regime, or slide into "mumperdumb ".
