A shout out to "Kiesha Lance Bottoms and Jamie Raskin for not letting the bullshit artists get away with their bullshit." and to TC for sharing their answer to the bullshit.

Just a suggestion: Check out David Frum's article in The Atlantic: Biden Laid the Trap. Trump Walked Into It.

At his Pennsylvania rally, the former president gave exactly the narcissistic display his Democratic nemesis tried to provoke.

Excellent article. Frum's very good on this stuff. Thanks Andrea!

To my mind, it’s like this. Trump either never heard the adage, loose lips sink ships, or he determined it didn’t apply to him. Either way, this is the most optimistic I’ve been since the start of this devastating debacle. As long as I don’t have to hear him, I hope he keeps talking. He’s building his own prosecutorial case against himself.

Agree!

Regardless of whether he has ever heard the adage about "loose lips", tfg is constitutionally incapable of holding his tongue.

Making his “dilemma” even more delicious!

Thanks for the Frum reference!

Nothing to add, Tom. You nailed it. Real journalism doesn't exist except for a few, battle weary supporters of speaking truth to power.

Everyday I lose more and more respect for the media. Like I said yesterday, this is nothing new and "yellow journalism" goes back to Papa Hearst.

To see the networks and the NYT and WaPo cower to these fucking lunatics is nuts. Everything, everything is "both sides". I'm glad they didn't cover Hitler. ( Although many Americans supported the Nazis). Well, truth is not both sides. And the cowardice of the msm enables this.

I asked my hero, Charlie Pierce the other day who is out there doing real shoe leather journalism. He came up with a couple of journalists from West Virginia and Texas. That's it. I can only add Ronan Farrow as a shining example of real fucking investigational reporting. That's it.

It's truly awful on the national scene but what worries me are local newspaper reporters. They are in the trenches. They are being fired left and right. They are invaluable, the people who follow police feports, city and town councils and school boards. This is the level that gives birth to the fucking fachists.

I'm just getting more pissed off. People need to pay attention and vote at every local election. This is where the fuckwits get their start. Now we don't have local reporters to cover them.

I better stop. Happy Labor Day. Appreciate the work you, Pierce, HCR, Lithwick and many more do to keep this fucking shithole country afloat.

Oh, and Joey, loved your speech but please stop calling us the greatest country ever. We're not even close.

You are so right. My local paper was sold by the 4th generation that ran it to the USA Today chain. We have 3 local reporters and one exceptional photojournalist in the Eugene office. 2 of my 3 local TV stations are Sinclair. Almost all of the local radio is Cumulus.

That's a nasty mediascape.

Indeed it is.

How can Raddatz and Garrett sleep at night? It’s an honest question. I can’t fathom how any sane person could carry water for the MAGAts. And that’s exactly what they were doing. They were positing, as though a fact, that the MAGAts should be coddled and catered to, and why wasn’t mean old Joe treating them nice. After the MAGAts sought to topple the government and hang Pence. Are they really that…what’s the word I’m searching for here…STUPID???

What some people won’t do to make a buck. 🤦🏻‍♂️

(Got to calm down.) Anyway, wishing you all a happy and restful Labor Day.

Well done, TC!! My Sunday mornings are consumed by getting the grandbairn to Sunday school and myself to choir practice. As much as I love Keisha Lance Bottoms, I think I’ll stick with your summation of both her and Jamie Raskins’s responses. Their questioners might have tempted me to throw something at an appliance I don’t want to replace right now. Thank you! 👍🏻☺️

Once upon a time, Major Garrett was a reporter for the Las Vegas Review-Journal, in my hometown, and let's just say that the R-J has a long history of covering politics in such a way as to make Fux Noise look moderate.

Perfectly. Stated. TC! Republicans: to hell with the First Amendment… but if the First Amendment goes … so goes the lying-for-the-ratings crooked media too. And, at this point, good riddance to bad rubbish.

All the networks care about, much like trump, is ratings. Everything else is secondary to selling ad space and attracting an audience with money to spend on whatever sponsors have to offer at a price. trump boosts their ratings and fattens their bottom line and that’s all the network bigwigs care about. But like the frog and the scorpion, they shouldn’t expect anything from the scorpion but what they deserve…when it’s too late.

Thanks TC for a little righteous anger! Thumbs up! Have a great Labor Day (in the shade :-) ) Time to throw it back to the "personalities' who front the news "shows". I long for the days of Cronkite, et al. Those days are never coming back.

I watched the entire speech live on MSNBC. That's the only network I can trust to cover his messages. The rest are just as you noted above, determined to spin and make money. And I'd bet money that they would all - ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN - jump at the chance to start airing live, uninterrupted coverage of those hate rallies.

Apparently, MAGAts cannot stand the heat in the kitchen of truth.

Thank you TC, and my fellow subscribers.... I am horrified, terrified, and clinging to a trembling stalk of faith that our America will survive this nightmare. If I thought I was alone living through this I wouldn't be able to bear it.

So grateful to be able to share in your wisdom and company in this ship upon the tumultuous sea.

Every few days, especially after another major eruption such as this, I ask my husband for the score. I just need a big scoreboard to clarify exactly where things stand at any given time. A simple clarification.... are we winning or are they? Are we tied? Are we moving forward with the ball, or did we just suffer a penalty?

I'm just so afraid....

Cynthia,

Great question. I don't think there is a scorecard or any other tool to measure who is "winning". I think we have to decide how we want to feel. I'm going with winning because there seem to be a lot more women registering as new voters. That's a hint, I think.

Ha! I'm solid on registration Bill! I tend to lean towards winning too, but when I consider what has happened over the past 6 years I don't take anything for granted!

The irony that by turning over Roe they may have 'done themselves in' delights me more than I can say!

Have a wonderful Labor Day!
