Jam packed and memorable portrait of enemy #1 of Democracy in the USA. In addition, TC, (may I call you Tom?) I brought a portion of today's Thats Another Fine Mess to LFAA's forum. Here is a part of my comment:

'Anyone who thought TC would disappear or be discouraged by a squad of subscribers who called him on his use of language, have no hope or fear on that score. He will be back in all his glory. In the meantime, I took the liberty of quoting his words from today’s THE GOP REALLY IS "THE ENEMY" (TCinLA from Thats Another Fine Mess) The following are excerpts:

‘It’s not just on the crisis in Ukraine. The Senate hearings on approving Judge Ketanji Jackson as the first African-American woman to become a Supreme Court Justice have brought out the real beliefs of Republicans on race and the old Confederacy claim of “state’s rights.” …

I went on from there, but there is no reason to repeat what you have read of

THE GOP REALLY IS "THE ENEMY".

Cheers to TCinLA.

Going around Facebook ( zombywoof68) under pic of Judge Ketanji BrownJackson:

"For overqualified women who have to remain calm, friendly, knowledgeable and professional in front of underqualified men....Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer.......

All that data and all those numbers completely confirm your last statement: "Today’s Republican Party is both a national security threat to the United States and the “domestic enemy” of our democratic constitutional republic."

I do not like national security threats. Actually, I abhor the danger that a national security threat poses to all citizens. In this case, the Republican Party and it’s unmitigated gall and insufferable white male supremacy is a threat to the security of the world.

How dare they. It makes me afraid, but I am not scared of their puny, righteous claims of ambition based merely on greed and fear of being bested.

They are scared. Not me.

The numbers began to make me nod a little, but did prove your point about the true enemy within your democracy. What really fascinated me was the personal detective tale of tracking down your book's pimps for money owed and how it ends up leading to the same dark and dim mindsets.

Indeed the current republican party (lower case letters) is a national security threat and likely and international threat as well. I frankly do not use the term "republican" any longer, I see the gop (also lower case letters) as so captured after Gingrich, among others, that they'll never come out of it. But the difficulty in the United States is that the two party system has made the rise of other political parties impossible. The fringes have entered the two parties and now the gop is highly infected with right wing, fascist tendencies. It is no longer "We the people..." that motivates them. Frankly, the meaning of the 14th amendment is being crashed by states making voting regulations that do not insure that all people have equal access to the ballot. That in itself should be addressed but how to do it? That is the problem. Perhaps the only way to address these inequities is for people in the various states currently under voter suppression laws coming out in huge numbers to vote and also to demonstrate against these laws passed by people who are dedicated to the idea of democracy as a charade - kind of like Putin's version. I comment Timothy Snyder's book The Road to Unfreedom and his various panel discussions and lectures now available on You Tube as one way to dive deep into the way Putin operates. It is amazing just how similar, and almost identical the playbook, the lack of truth (let alone facts), the changing of history to suit the moment (especially since too many people have become unmoored from history), and complete fabrications. Putin is a master. I have the feeling they've all been attending Zoom trainings with Putin and his people. Anybody know?

Amen, Mr. TCinLA!!! Yes we shall have to "fight like hell" to make sure our majority voice is heard!

I just read mr. glen ellmers of the Claremont Institute's "opinion" of just why the far right considers the election illegitimate and just who comprises "authentic Americans" (hint: it isn't any of us citizens living on the East or West Coast) and if that is what the far right's mainstream thoughts are...then we Dems (and progressives and liberals and literally anyone else who isn't enamored of the white patriarchy/authoritarian thoughtstyles) are in for the fight of our lives.

I’ll say this TC. You have gathered a small but mighty group of subscribers. I do not have to think about propriety and crumpets quite as much on this Stack. Much more acceptance of freely expressing because the emotion is important in messaging right now. It’s war and a humanitarian and democracy crisis, not a meeting to discuss a potluck dinner. Your list of subscribers is sure to grow steadily. All the hubbub on other Stack actually brings readers. Your military historian perspective is prime time.

Thank you!

What a day for reading TCinLA. Two posts. I’m twice grateful. You’ve nailed the rotting GOP. The stink of their Q’s of KBJ is a rot riot. I’m GLAD it’s on TV for all to hear. It’s really disgusting. I hope to hell we can get out the vote later this year. Working on it. Turnout. Cut the head off the monster. Hope. ❤️🤍💙
