As Rick Wilson put it in a weekend tweet:
“Sure he’s a pussy-grabbing, lavishly corrupt, 2x impeached, soon-to-be-indicted Putin-fellating shambling umber mound who ordered an attack on the capitol and tried to steal an election but otherwise drag queen Antifa BLM Muslim Mexicans will impose sharia communism.”
And of course, all Good Republicans must opposed this threat.
Not the threat of the “Putin-fellating shambling umber mound who ordered an attack on the capitol and tried to steal an election,” but rather the “Drag queen Antifa BLM Muslim Mexicans who will impose sharia communism.”
While steel barricades are being erected around the Manhattan courthouse today, nearly all of the senior “leadership” of the Republican Party are stepping up to declare their fealty to Trump in his hour of need, and doubling down on that support with perfomative bullshit.
The House Republicans are at a retreat this week in Orlando. Proving that GOP “moderates” are less than useless, South Dakota’s Dusty Johnson, who chairs the “centrist-leaning” Main Street Caucus replied to a reporter’s question of what the goal of the retreat is, saying, “The value of something like this is, can we keep the era of good feelings going within the Republican conference? This is gonna be a nice opportunity for us to just get in the same room, have a couple hundred of us breathe the same air, and remind ourselves that we have more in common than we have apart.”
That lasted about as long as it took Johnson to say it.
Politico reports that at his first conference presser last night, the first question Quiverin’ Qevin was asked was whether people should support Trump’s call for protests if he is arrested. QQ answered, “I don’t think people should protest this, no. We want calmness out there.”
Credit where credit is due. The Bakersfield Bozo may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but like Bethany Mandel, he can recognize when he stepped into a “viral moment” with that call over the weekend to have the Republican-controlled House committees investigate the investigation into how his Maximum Leader can now be facing indictment and arrest.
But despite knowing he stepped in something he now wishes he could scrape off his shoe, QQ doesn’t know how to get loose of the tar baby his comment has become. Politico cites a source who they note “spoke on condition of anonymity” because the plans are not final, who said that McCarthy, a longtime Trump ally and close friend, is “fully supportive and pushing folks to be aggressive here.”
Right after QQ spoke at his presser, his girlfriend Marjorie Traitor Goon had this to say: “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with calling for protests. Americans have the right to assemble, the right to protest. And that’s an important constitutional right. And he doesn’t have to say peaceful for it to mean peaceful. Of course, he means peaceful.”
QQ also said, “Remember, we also have a select committee on the weaponization of government, this applies directly to that. I think you’ll see actions from them.”
And right on schedule, Faux Snooze reported this morning that House Judiciary Committee chairman Jungle Gym Jordan has taken QQ’s call to heart, demanding that New York DA Alvin Bragg come before the committee and explain why he is harassing “America’s favorite president.”
Jordan’s letter reads in part: “In light of the serious consequences of your actions, we expect that you will testify about what plainly appears to be a politically motivated prosecutorial decision... The only potential speculated crime that could be alleged here would be a violation of campaign finance law, according to one scholar, a charge that the Justice Department has already declined to bring"
Proving once again that these clowns really are bad at clowning around, attorney Bradley Moss, who really does know how the government works, pointed out in a tweet: “This demand isn't worth the paper it's printed on. No legitimate legislative purpose. No authority to investigate how local DAs prosecute state crimes. No ability to compel local DAs to discuss pending grand jury proceedings or, post-indictment, to discuss an ongoing matter.”
Even QQ has been around the House long enough to have once learned that. Too bad he never learned to “engage brain before opening mouth.”
The House Republicans really would like to spend a week seeing if they can get their act together (a fool’s errand with this collection of “geniuses”), but they are going to be plagued all week with answering questions about what the Retired Duffer and Constant Golf Cheat in Florida keeps pushing.
This morning, the Retired Duffer and Constant Golf Cheat “truthed” on his Putin-financed “Truth Social” - in all caps, the way all senile old Boomers handle their internet communications:
“RADICAL NY DA MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE CRIME OF ‘INTERFERENCE IN A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.’”
Politico found a House GOP staffer, who like all these heroes, would speak only on “condition of anonymity”: “Yet again, his ego gets in the way and he feels the need to suck the oxygen out of the room.”
Following that outburst, the Retired Duffer and Constant Golf Cheat “truthed” this - again written in Senile Old Boomer Style:
“CAN YOU IMAGINE THE GREAT NEW YORK CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT, CORRECTLY REFERRED TO AS “NEW YORK CITY’S FINEST,” WHO, FOR THE FIRST AND ONLY TIME IN HISTORY, ENDORSED A PRESIDENT, ME & HONORED ME AS “MAN OF THE YEAR,” HAVING TO DEFEND & PROTECT THE “DEFUNDERS” & “COP HATERS” OF THE RADICAL LEFT THAT WANT TO PUT THEIR GREATEST CHAMPION & FRIEND IN PRISON FOR A CRIME THAT DOESN’T EXIST... ALL THE WHILE THE SOROS BACKED D.A. ALLOWS MURDERS & OTHER VIOLENT CRIMINALS TO FREELY ROAM THE SIDEWALKS OF N.Y.?”
He followed that up with:
“REMEMBER, THE SAME ANIMALS AND THUGS THAT WOULD DO THIS TO PERHAPS 200 MILLION PEOPLE, BUT ACTUALLY ALL AMERICANS, ARE THE COMMUNISTS, MARXISTS, RINOS, AND LOSERS WHO ARE PURPOSELY DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY!”
He’s not going away, folks, and he will try anything to throw sand in the gears of the justice he knows is coming for him.
Do take note that he listed only “200 million” of us, not the 330 million that is the complete population of the country. In the same way that he tries to convince us he’s a “billionaire,” he conflates 71 million votes in 2020 into representing two-thirds of the country supporting him - rather than, as polls show, that two-thirds of Americans actually believe he is guilty.
So far as all the BS by Trump and the collection of cowardly enablers about the “crime not being a crime,” they might take note that his former fixer Michael Cohen became a convicted felon and spent time in jail after being found guilty of committing this “crimeless crime.”
Trump’s low cunning in his use of this is also pretty obvious in how his call for support is now being used against his biggest political threat, DeSantis.
Jonathan Swan and Maggie Haberman report in the NYT this morning:
“Former President Donald J. Trump’s political operation is trying to use the news of his expected indictment by a Manhattan grand jury to turn the strident base of the Republican Party against his expected rival for the 2024 presidential nomination, Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida.
“Immediately after the former president predicted on Saturday that his arrest was imminent, Mr. Trump’s operatives and friendly media outlets began publicly pressuring Mr. DeSantis to condemn the law enforcement officials in New York, portraying his silence on the matter as bordering on treason.
“And the Trump campaign’s “War Room” account posted on Sunday: “It has been over 24 hours and some people are still quiet. History will judge their silence.”
Junior tweeted: “Pay attention to which Republicans spoke out against this corrupt BS immediately and who sat on their hands and waited to see which way the wind was blowing.”
The real truth about all Republicans is coming clear in all this - whether they are dyed-in-the-wool MAGAts, “normies,” “moderates,” or whatever else they list themselves as - they are now being told that support of “your favorite president” when he finally faces the accountability he has avoided all his life before, is mandatory.
What’s wanted is this (from a tweet):
“I do NOT support Donald Trump,” said the non-Trump supporter. “I just denounce his critics and argue that laws shouldn’t apply to him.” “And I’m warning you,” this independent-minded person went on, “If anyone tries to hold Trump accountable, I’ll denounce them for it. So don’t.”
What McCarthy and the rest are doing is something new and ominous: a direct attack on the independence of law enforcement to make prosecutions they see fit to make - one of the central pillars of a constitutional democratic republic, replacing democratic accountability with the rule of thugs.
This is straight-up fascism.

That third paragraph paints a bleak picture of a choice between authoritarian fascism and sharia communism. Sort of supposes there are no other choices. I’ll continue to live outside the box and choose democracy... I prefer social democracy because I like to think my tax dollars will help my fellow citizens stay healthy, informed and educated. We all know Trump doesn’t do math well... of any kind. Let’s all try to keep the faith, ignore the bluster and pass the popcorn 🍿
The hair I cleaned out of the shower drain this morning is smarter than the vast majority of the repubs. I try not to be discouraged, but these people and their unrelenting stupidity are exhausting.
