Agree. And exactly why Republican pundits last night decried the president’s talk to the nation as “partisan” or a “campaign” speech. Or even the lack of networks airing the address. Damn straight. His last two words were “VOTE” and “DEMOCRACY”.

There’s no other reason why these egregious talking MAGA heads seem so calm in the rising enthusiasm of the vote for democracy this fall. They think the Republican party, MAGAts and Gnats (tiny MAGAts in name only) included, have already dismantled the most important guardrails in our democracy…the framing of the voice of We the People through fair elections and lawful counts and certifications.

I’ve got news for them. If the President can end an address with the two words he chose, then it is very clear how important the upcoming election is.

Personally, it would be such a dream if the former would have had to drive out of the state into the deep blue Atlantic to find a judge that would even consider a “special master” as a delay ploy for his political demise. But so be it.

Our only enemy now is complacency. And our ally is unabashed enthusiasm.

Fire up the griddle! Sizzlin’, TC. Sizzlin’.

P.S. Love the essay title. Currently t-shirts on order. Yesterday, I stuck a post-it note with same message on a street mailbox whose residence displays a gargantuan Brandon sign facing out on their living room window. Just sayin’. Grassroots enthusiasm. 🗽

The corporate scum who own the media still think the Republicans are going to win in November and that the Trumpscum will be back in 2024, so they have run the white flag of surrender up the flag pole already with their "coverage." CNN, whose new boss takes his orders from uber-fascist Comcats CEO John Malone, already got rid of Brian Stelter for calling out the fascist media on his show, "for the encouragement of the others" - all of whom are tucking their tails between their legs.

Then it is up to us to disabuse them of that notion, and perhaps reform the broadcast news business by reinstating the "fairness" doctrine in public media..... As the situation in Michigan shows, the right feels the wind at their backs and they simply cannot refrain from showing how powerful they are, but they always overreach and bring the whirlwind.....

I've been yelling and screaming for DECADES about the necessity of bringing back the Fairness Doctrine.

Just like HST used to say, "I don't give them Hell. I just tell the truth about them and they think it's Hell!"

I LOVE, LOVE LOVE it! I'm going to start passing out flyers with the Harry S Truman quote and the "Roe, Roe, Roe your vote..." meme on cars in parking lots where ever I go!

TL! Will use a ream of paper in September to make flyers. Love it. Better than a post it note. (But I laughed today to see it still on that mailbox.) hahahaha

Salud! 🗽

Can we just say “trump won” then tell him he can’t run again because he’s already served two terms 😂

very fiery, Tom. another bullseye. watching the "responses" to Biden's speech last night is (after the initial shouting at the tv screen) sorta fun. I noticed that Santorum called it "disgusting." let's remember this is the same guy who brought his stillborn infant home so that the family could hold it and "say goodbye." and I gag a little when I remember that he was a paid "expert" on CNN. and let's not get started on McCarthy's electric blanket of liberty or whatever the fuck it was; that kind of moronic shit gives the lie--at least for a moment--the tradition of Irish folks having the gift of turning a phrase. but he's always been, at very least, grammatically challenged. the intellectually challenged part goes without saying.

I'm not a betting person, but I would bet that loose Cannon will do what every robed MAGAt useful idiot does - she'll willingly and happily throw herself, her reputation and her career down the toilet in exchange for a wink and a nod from Putin's tool.

During Orange Hitler's "rain of terror," I would email Dean Baquet, the megalomaniacal, back-stabbing jackass to whom the Sulzbergers unwisely entrusted The Great Gray Lady, and say, "The First Amendment cannot survive a second term." He responded, often nastily, to other comments but not to that one. But it can't, and it won't--and I don't mean Orange Hitler. I mean any republican.

Definitely right. And right now we have to win every time and they only have to win once. Not the best odds.

I found Bidens speech today and listened to it. First time in my life I ever listened to a political speech and it was from an American. Three minutes he talked about Trump and the MAGA Republicans and the snowflakes are all over Twitter today.

We use RCV in Maine...The only exception is the office of governor--which is the reason we voted for it in the first place; we were sick and tired of Repubbie governors getting a measly plurality and then strutting around and bloviating as though they had gotten some kind of mandate.

Our State Constitution requires either a clear 51% of the vote or, if there are more than two candidates running, a plurality. It sucks, and that is how we got the execrable Paul LePage, Maine's national embarrassment.

Kind of terrifying, isn't it? Feels like the razor's edge. My tRumper neighbors rant drunkenly every evening. Small, circumscribed minds feeding upon the cult and its news, spewing vile hatred and lies. It gets challenging to smile and offer kind greetings...

I had some of those, I didn't think of them as neighbors, just "the morons next door." And didn't do the "neighbor" thing with them. They got the message of being treated like they weren't there.
